Hey guys, remember when FUNimation licensed Shakugan no Shana II? Yeah, it was so long ago that I bet George Washington does.

Seriously though; Shana's history in America has been rather jaded. First Geneon USA went down, then there was the merger with Geneon Japan and Universal Pictures Japan that led to FUNimation not receiving the materials for ages. HOWEVER, today that all ends.

Yes ladies and gentlemen - the entire second season of Shakugan no Shana is being released in two parts in DVD/Blu-ray combi packs on 25th September 2012 - yes on the same day! But that is not all - volume 1 can also be purchased as a limited edition with an artbox...and RightStuf is having a deal where if you buy a special bundle of both parts, you will receive a currently unannounced pre-order bonus!

Also, remember that season 1 is being re-released as a DVD/BD combi pack in August.

Geez, finally! Why the heck did it take them so long!?

I just hope the artbox is big enough to fit their planned rerelease of season 1, the two season 2 sets, the eventual 2 season 3 sets, the movie and the S OVA series.

Geneon USA, who dubbed season 1, went out of business. FUNimation license-rescued season 1. They then announced the season 2 license in 2010, hoping to have it out in 2011, but Geneon Japan and Universal Pictures Japan were involved in a rather big merger, which meant that the materials for all Geneon shows (not just Shana) were significantly delayed.

It's about damn time. I really hope the voices are the same.
FUNimation have confirmed that they have been in touch with Ocean Studios about dubbing (Ocean Studios was responsible for the voice work in season 1). Personally though, while I'm all for it for continuity, I personally didn't like the dub of the first season (mainly the casting).
