Yet another Rocket100 fic, #78--Shame. Features the Marauder--there's not nearly enough fics about him.
It couldn't end like that. He was supposed to know that.
Now I'm locked in a prison cell. I know what they're planning, but they can't kill me. Only he could do that. They don't stand a chance.
They can't kill me. Only Giovanni could do that and he had to go and die.
He wasn't supposed to, not yet. Die, that is. Sure I'd shot him, maybe more than I'd meant to, but he fell before he should have. He should have stayed up and fired back, not fell over right away.
Stupid fucker. He was supposed to kill me. We were supposed to kill each other.
I tried to put his gun back in his hand. I think I was screaming at him, not really sure. But I had the gun in his hand and pointed at me, but he didn't pull the trigger. And then he went limp and it was too late.
It wasn't supposed to end like that! Not with one of us still standing!
Dammit, I even went in without my armor. I gave him a clear shot, but he didn't take it.
And now it's too late. It's too late and they won't be able to do it. It can't end any other way, so now it can't end at all.
They're taking me down the hallway now. The new leader's waiting for me and the guards push me to the ground and take my mask away. Fine, it won't do any good. Only Giovanni could kill me. That was how it was supposed to end.
