Here is a tread for people who want to share some stories, be them funny or serious, of times you got riped-off trying to buy Pokemon merch, toys, collectibles, plushies or other things Pokemon related.

Here's my story:

Asshat McGee Sat on a Pile of Bullshit by Spario Otakuenda​

In the new Smash Bros Direct, Masahiro Sakurai, the games developer, explained details of some new as well as returning features in the game. He was explaining the Masterball item and when the camera cut back from the gameplay he was replaced with a substitute doll. I wanted to get one for myself, so I searched online and found that there are 3 versions made by the Pokecenter, the 6 inch doll (wich goes for up to $10), the slightly uncommon key-chain version (which goes for $15-20) and the also uncommon 12 inch version, which is the one I want, the one that apeared when Sakurai used substiute in the direct, and that usually would go for $20-30, but look over here at these asshats! Yeah do you think I'm going to buy that when a quick E-bay search will show off some actual prices for these. It is absolutely shit-dick-(u)less, that their are GOOD RATINGS ON ALL OF THESE LISTINGS!!!! I mean $322.50 for a 12 inch by 12 inch doll of fluff and fabric, is it stuffed with gold! Luckily I found a listing of one for only $20. Please, please don't buy one of these, for any less than $30, please because that would be as stupid as thinking you'll live if you fall into lava, while spikes, come from all sides to crush you with lava sharks swim around you, and upside down volcanoes and space lasers open fire on you!

Any way, that's my story, so please don't hesitate to share some of your stories, and be as descriptive of your emotions toward the subject.

So once, my friend bought a bootleg Pokemon card. It may not sound like much, but it was a "shadow Pikachu" with Pikachu being spelled wrong. Even worse was the fact that it was just paper glued to cardboard, I'm not kidding, it actually was. All of his friends thought it was real, and when I said it was fake, I was screamed at. So when I got home I looked it up on Amazon, and it was $10 DOLLARS. so that was my story.

Haha awesome! Yeah, its kinda... adorably wrong. Definately a snart XD I don't mind getting these sorts of bootlegs since they're fun in their own right, its like uniqueness value!

That’s Ebay and Amazon for ya though. Sellers are always overpricing their stuff on there, and for some reason they still have good feedback. You’d reckon that at least someone would point out to them how insane their prices are.
No wonder people buy bootlegs. I mean who would want to spend over $100 on something that is really only, say, $20. It’s also the Pokemon Center’s fault for not making their merch widely available. You know, international shipping would be a good start.
