The allusions to Gold and Silver remakes have yet to be exhausted.
Thanks to Kiera229, I have here a translation of the Sheimi event. It would appear that Prof. Oak's appearance on Route 225 is far from coincidental:
I had a hunch that Sheimi was not landlocked to Sinnoh, and the text supports just that. We can deduce that a monument similar to the one on Route 225 has appeared somewhere in Kanto (Sevii Islands?).
Sheimi probably isn't more native to Kanto than it is to Sinnoh; it is has the ability to create a flower elysium in close proximity to a white stone, of which there at least two - in Kanto and Sinnoh.
It is one thing to feature Prof. Oak as a pertinent character in this event, but going as far as to establish that Kanto has a mystery which we have seen neither in the original games nor in FireRed and LeafGreen, is more than just Game Freak's whim. It seems to me that we can expect to see Sheimi unlocked not only in Diamond and Pearl, but in future remakes of Gold and Silver, as well.

Oh, I've been waiting for you [Player]!
Could you look at this stone monument right away?
I found one like it in the Kanto region, and I want to borrow your power!
If you research what's written on the stone, it looks like the kind of thoughts of a trainer who has made friends with an adult, giving thanks.
That is why I want to borrow your power.
You've come here having met lots of people and Pokémon, and made lots of connections and friendships.
It would be good to speak your current feelings.
Right! Who is the companion you wish to give thanks to?
Hmm... the companion you want to give thanks to [Companion], is that really okay?
What was that Pokémon? Has it got some connection to this stone monument?
Hmm... I wonder if that Pokémon has some connection to what was just said.
