Ahead of the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in October, a special serial code distribution of Shiny Koraidon and Shiny Miraidon will be held for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in select countries between September 26th and October 15th. No purchase is required for players to receive these codes, however supplies will be limited.

The code cards being distributed will work in both versions of the game, however only one of Shiny Koraidon or Shiny Miraidon can be received per code. Players of Pokémon Violet will receive a Shiny Koraidon, while Pokémon Scarlet players will receive Shiny Miraidon. While the international announcement does not specify exactly when these codes will expire, the Japanese announcement states that players will have until October 23rd to redeem their codes.

To get these Pokémon, Trainers in the following countries will have to visit one of the following retailers between September 26th and October 15th to receive a code card while supplies last:
  • US: Gamestop
  • Canada, Australia and New Zealand: EB Games
  • Japan: Participating Game Stores nationwide (excluding convenience stores)
  • Korea: Participating stores nationwide (see here for a full list)
After obtaining a code card, follow these steps to receive your gift:
  1. Launch your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
  2. Select Poké Portal on the X menu.
  3. Select Mystery Gift
  4. Select Get with Code/Password to connect to the internet.
  5. Enter your code.
  6. Watch as the gift arrives in your game. The Pokémon will appear in your party if you have space, or else in an available empty space in your Pokémon Boxes.
  7. Be sure to save your game.

Ooh, cool! I'm glad Violet is the version getting Shiny Koraidon, it looks so nice. I'm not the biggest fan of guaranteed-shiny distributions, especially for new species that could never be shiny before, but I suppose it's just bound to happen by now. Here's hoping France communicates which stores will hold the codes soon.

very excited to hit up multiple gamestops with my mom with 2 switches and both versions of the game and probably also go out for lunch on the 26th :3

so the ones getting genned by pkhex will no longer be illegal ?
I highly doubt any past Raidons that have been generated will happen to match the event ones down to the OT, PID, and Poké Ball used, so definitely not. Don't expect any of them to pass legality checks.

Cool although not the biggest fan of store events since they are exclusive to specific countries.

Not sure if they will be available again since Gen 9 made every single returning Legendary shiny locked which could repeat.
