So I know we have a thread on Shiny pokemon variation but how about just one for everything shiny pokemon :)

Do you think we will get a pokeradar or will it be back to the original random encounter?

Will they bring back the shiny pokemon power boost if the latter returns?

Do you think they will change the existing shiny sprite color of any pokemon?

What do you think would be a good fit for the new pokemon?

And anything else you guys think of :)

Power Boost? What Power Boost?

I thought that in G/S/C Shiny pokemon were a bit stronger then their normal counterparts (I could be mistaken but that was what i was told in the past)

But every gen past they took that out

Also about the shiny form for the new pokemon i think Zorua should have green where the red is

I thought they were weaker on average than normal Pokemon (shininess being determined by IVs back in the day)

I think you were misinformed. From what I understand of Shiny Pokemon in GenII, they were actually pretty mediocre compared to other Pokemon, since Shinyness was determined by IVs, and the specific IVs needed for a Pokemon to be Shiny were all relatively low.

Generation I Pokémon, shiny Pokémon are only slightly above average in terms of IVs. (taken from bulbapedia)

I think they were more powerful after looking at this (not much but slightly)

More powerful may be a bad way of putting it

First of all, in Generation I, the games were all in black and white. There wasn't any Shinyness until GenII.

Anyways, what you have to understand is that the IVs needed for a Pokemon to be Shiny were all pretty low. The max IVs a Pokemon can have in a stat is 31. However, for a Pokemon to be Shiny, it's IVs in its Defence, Speed, and Special stats all had to be exactly 10, while it's Attack IV had to be 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14 or 15. Even a GenII Shiny Pokemon that had 15 Attack IVs would probably be skipped over by someone trying to put together a competitive battling team.

(Mind you, that only applies in GenII, as Shinyness stopped being determined by IVs from GenIII onwards.)

I know gen one wasnt color sorry i didnt take the whole quote so its probably confusing :(

and i know that IV's can be as high as 31, im no iv person but i at least know what they are and the maximum...

I also know that the mechanics of what determined shineyness changed via gen 3, even though i only got into the shiny thing gen 4

It wasn't low, it was average. IVs went up to only 15 in Gen I/II.

Ah, that would make them slightly more usable, yes. Though, still, even with max IVs only being 15 back then, it does still back up what I was saying about them not getting a "power boost".

For every person who is good enough with the Poke Radar to find shinies, there is about 15 people who get frustrated as hell and get their chains broken by Bidoof.

Besides, don't most people use Masuda Method now anyway? I'm not sure.

If a form of Shiny-Hunting does crop up in Generation V, I hope it isn't the return of the Poke Radar.

Shinies

Well as you can probably tell by my user name im an extremly avid shiny collector, and though I thought that discussion about what the new pokemon shinies look like could go in the new pokemon thread, i figured it may be more appropriate to just have a thread for exclusive discussion on what you believe the new pokemons shiny sprites may look like

Or If you even think shinies will be around this generation

Re: Shinies

I doubt that they wont and if there isnt... my mewtwo... i like its green tail... also what would be interesting if they added another coloration for each pokemon so it would original colors and 2 shinies but that is somewhat asking much

Re: Shinies

I would actually love it if there was a 2nd coloration for each pokemon but that may be a bit much...I would be happy if maybe depending on gender the shiny coloration is different

I believe a good color scheme for a shiny pokubu may be a blue rear and a lighter orange or yellow body

Re: Shinies

It's silly to assume shiny Pokemon wouldn't be here. Regardless, we've already seen the shiny (event) Legendary Beasts, so we're getting them.
