Shiny Starters in Pokemon Diamond...

Just wondering, how would you know when you get like a shiny chimchar... Can you tell, before you select the pokemon, or do you wait after you select the one you want and see if its shiny when its released?

Well, it wasnt really a simple question... I just wanted to know the signs of getting a shiny starter pokemon in diamond so I can make my SRing sessions quicker and more efficient until I actually get one

The soonest you can find out is the the first fight (against the wild Starly). Compare the backsprite to the ones [bp=Chimchar_(Pokémon)#Sprites]here[/bp] if you don't notice the stars. And this really isn't a question that requires an entire thread to answer so it does belong in the Simple Questions thread.

So nice when someone explains it :-D I was just unsure, if it would be before the fight started when you chose the you want and it shows the picture of the pokemon or you just find out during the fight.
