CNN said:
A university police officer was shot on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus in Cambridge late Thursday and has been taken to a local hospital, state police spokesman Lt. Mark Kiley said.

Police and the FBI responded to reports of gunshots at Building 32, according to MIT, which posted a message on its Twitter account. Officers surrounded and cordoned off the building.

The university, which lies adjacent to the city of Boston, requested people stay away from the building as police consider the situation still active and dangerous.

Residents in the area have been on edge after two bombs ripped through the crowd near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring about 180 others.
What a rotten week.

On the one hand, this does seem to be a really messed up week with the Boston Marathon bombings and the fertilizer plant explosion in Texas and this, but the skeptic in me feels like the media is just doing their thing and focusing on these really tense and scary things to get more ratings (rumors are going around that the explosion in Texas was also a bombing, which in my eyes is an example of the tumultuous fervor that we as a nation are in right now). I don't know which to suspect, but I'm leaning more toward the former. All things considered, this has been a really crappy week for this country.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the shooting at MIT was the younger of the two Boston Marathon bombers shooting at a security officer.

There were some thoughts that the Texas explosion was a terrorist attack here amongst talk radio in Georgia, but after the shock wore off everyone realized that the explosion was probably due to the fact that fertilizers kind-of explode in fire.

This is assuming that it wasn't arson.

My cousin goes to MIT, and I didn't know how she was doing. Thankfully, she was OK. The worst thing is, the two guys (used to) go to my other cousin's university/college. I doubt he'll be staying there for long.
