When?

Impact of doing so?

:)

:hugs Damian for the idea:

Well, shoot which looters? If they're taking necessities like food or clothing from abandoned stores, then of course not. If they're taking things like guns, then better shoot them before they start trouble. And if it's stuff like TVs, well don't let them get on the evacuation buses; let them choose to either evacuate or stay in a flooded powerless city with their stolen goods.

Personally I give a shoot on sight order for anyone looting non-essential goods.

Shoot them all, including essentials. Instead, the police should be taking the essential items themselves and distrubuting them as needed. If you let people just take them for themselves, you'll end up with a situation where the only way to get food is buy it off the black market.

The police should be getting the essential items by military convoys from "out of town".

Let's NOT have the police distributing moldy bread that's been floating in refuse water for days, uh?

In some cases, they're letting people (one at a time) into guarded convenience stores and giving each person a $20 spending limit for essentials.

I'll go on record saying that if police were in charge of distributing food taken from stores, they shouldn't check it, and let the sh's check it themselves.

I'll go on record as saying, this should only be done as an extreme emergency measure to supplement heavy convoying of resources in (or of people out).

In other words, do it now before thousands starve to death.

I agree with shooting looters.

I don't agree with Bush's priority on shooting them over getting vital help to the people affected by the hurricane.

I was pretty much disguisted watching this unfold - Bush going on TV banging on about Zero Tolerance for Looters and then not giving a damn about the people in SERIOUS need of aid that SHOULD have reached them within at least 48 hours of the disaster.

It's clearly plain to me that Bush obviously cares more about a couple hundred dollars worth of merchandise in shops than the people he is leaving to die in the rubble.
