I know that this will seem very hard to contemplate, given the closeness of Charizard and Ash, but do you think that Brock should have gotten Charmander?

I rewatched "Charmander - The Stray Pokemon!" for the first time in years last night, and throughout the whole episode it was Brock who was doing the most. It was Brock who told Damian to take Charmander back, it was Brock who decided to go out into the storm first to get Charmander to the Pokemon Centre, and it was Brock who warned Charmander that Damian had already abandoned it once when Damian did finally want Charmander back.

It seemed to me at the end of the episode that Charmander was only given to Ash so that he'd have all three starters, and that if this episode had happened in Hoenn or Sinnoh Brock would have captured it. Heck, Ash even argued that it should be Brocks.

What do you think? I definitely felt like this episode was in the same family as the Stantler, Bonsly, and Nuzleaf eps.

It kinda would be cool if Ash got Bulbasaur, Misty got Squirtle, and Brock got Charmander...I guess.

So, Ash would never have a Charizard?

Uh...no. I liked Ash getting all the starters in Kanto because it was the first time it happened. And Charmander did go through more character development as it evolved than the other starters.

Besides, we've seen Brock with Mudkip and it barely did anything. The writers know better than to waste starters on him.

well mabay if brock was a pokemon trainer he would have taken him (if it is a him).

If Brock got Charmander Ash would have somehow gotten Vulpix. Personally I would have preferred that since it would have meant more screentime for Vulpix. But it was not meant to be. They wanted to whore the starters and the best way to do that was to give them all to Ash.

Still Vulpix >>> Charmander

how lovely it would've been if Satoshi had Kyuukon as his main fire-type for a while (take that Windie, you over-showcased bastard XD).

I fail to see the problem with that. :p
If Ash didn't get Charizard he would of been that Ayerodactal's (sp) snack (remember, "Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon"?) Also, if he wouldn't of been alive in the 2nd movie Pokemon world would only be a memory. Anotherthing, is Charizard saved Ash and Pikachu in the 3rd movie.

Also, the same thing probably would of happened if Brock would of had it. Although, I wonder if Charizard would of disobayed Brock.

You're forgetting the writers would have written things differently if Ash didn't have the Charmander line.

Exactly. In the case of movie 3, they could have made it Ash's Pidgeot that returned. Events only happen because the writers made it so.
