Okay, here's the thing: I finally bought a DS, so I'm a bit short on cash right now, but buying MD shouldn't put too much of a dent in my cash (I've got about $135 left). Also, Toys R Us has a killer preorder deal going on right now (free $15 strategy guide!). However, I need to know, from anyone who imported it: Is Mystery Dungeon any good? Normally, I'd wait to read the review to buy a game, but the magazine I subscribe to (EGM) has a history of being biased against Pokemon games (FR/LG got two 7.0s and an 8.0; Emerald got a 6.5 and two 7.0s, even though I found them both quite good). So I'm wanting to know how good it is from anyone who's played it already, since if it sucks, I can just go out and blow my money on Castlevania, or something.

Thanks!

I've played it a bit, and here's what I think:

Pros
+ Animated overworld sprites of all the Pokemon
+ General cuteness
+ Interesting to see Pokemon and attacks fight in a 3-D grid, but using a similar battle system to the RSU games
+ Can get all Pokemon in either version without connecting

Cons
- The same 386 Pokemon as the 3rd generation
- Sucks if you don't like Dungeon Crawling

If I can afford it, I'm planning on getting the Red version for game boy advance.(I don't own a DS, I can't afford one. :( ) I want to get it because it's different from the other games.

Sold, then. Dungeon Crawling is my middle name (not really, it's Louise, but either way...)

Well, I haven't actually played it, but I've read almost everything about it there is to read online. All I know is that I'm getting it. (Well...actually my dad is buying it and sending it to me, and I'm sending cash back to him. I don't actually have a car right now, so most of the time I'm trapped on campus unless I want to take 3 hours out of my day and take the cruddy shuttle bus. Or as I like to call it, the shittle bus. Dx)

But anyways, I'm getting it, and I'm looking forward to it. It looks really cute! Plus, I just think it'll be interesting because it's whole different spin on the pokemon games.

Somehow I keep thinking Dungeon would be the most likely franchise of pokemon to continue to be used over again going forward, it has the chance to be really good stand-alone style game... We will see, I plan on getting it thats for sure... Should be fun

Well, they could just wait a year and release PMD2 with the Shino Pokemon added.
