The movie adaptions are somewhat good, but I recommend Pokémon Adventures or DP Adventure! if you are in North America. Since Japan and South East Asia have a greater variation of manga.

Re: Some manga

Oh yes, very much so. Gotta say though, the Giratina movie's comic has TERRIBLE art.

The other comics are separate from the show and are closer to the games. Special is more popular, but don't overlook DPA--it's an excellent series.

Re: Some manga

Almost 100% of Pokemon fans will recomend Special, but DPA is really a great series as well. Personally, I liked the movie adaptations, although I do agree that Giratina's art wasn't that great. Ranger was probably my favorite of any of the movie comics.

Seconded D:

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you're from a country which Viz distributes their manga (likely the USA or Canada). Having said that, the Darkrai comic was definitely a fun read and probably the best of the three movie mangas that Viz has right now.

Time and again you will hear Pokémon Adventures (or "Pokémon Special" as it is known in Japan) recommended as well, it is definitely an excellent series, though Viz has only six volumes available at this time. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure! is a good read as well, and it's not nearly as long as Adventures, so it'll be easier on the wallet, too (yeah Adventures has only six volumes out by Viz NOW, but they'll catch up. There's like, 34 in Japan).

Avoid the "ani-mangas", they're kind of dumb and too expensive imo. If you haven't heard of them before, they're comic books made of stills from the anime, which I find sort of defeats the point of both? Especially when sooo much good Pokémon manga is available.

Well, there's obviously a market for the ani-manga, since companies keep making them.

Also, I changed the thread title because "Some manga" is a terrible name for a thread.

Naruto, Pokemon Special, & Megaman. All of 'em are good mangas, especially Naruto

I recommend the Pokemon Special series, but those ones you mentioned just sound like comic adaptations of the anime. Can't really see much point, to be honest.

Best Pokemon manga I've read are....
Special, Dengeki Pikachu, Golden Boys, and honestly I guess Zensho is better than some of the pokemon manga I've seen haha

You MUST read the Pokémon Special/Adventures manga. It's great.

Pokemon Adventures, I highly, highly recommend! Heck, it's my favorite manga, period. I also hear that Pokemon Pocket Monsters manga (the one with the crass clefairy) is good, & I also hear The Electric Tale of Pikachu is good too. I have yet to find those, so I cannot say whether or not they are, but worth mentioning.

Pretty much what Knomadd said. If you only want to read a single Chapter, read the Red, Blue & Green chapter (The First One). It's, in my opinion, the best so far (I'm the middle of the Crystal Chapter, so the later ones might be better.)

FRLG was highly packed with emotions and amazingly intense.

I remember wondering if I should read Special/ Adventures. I thought, "Why not?" Best Pokémon manga to date. ^^

DP is good too. Not as good as Special, but still good.

(even though its old) I love electric tale of Pikachu. you should try that.

or the manga, Pokemon Special

The pokemon special: seriously. It's like Eva and pokemon mixed and it gives more screentime to the gym leaders. <:

The Electric Tale of Pikachu is really nice/touching too!

Just go for the ones that are somewhat different from the games/anime and you'll be amazed.
