I think that James deserves a new pokemon. Carnivine is great and all, Mime Jr is his baby, but James needs to add more depth to his team.

DO u guys feel the same way?

If so, which pokemon should he get?

I hope he doesn't get a new Grass type, or anything to continue the running gag they won't let die. But if they don't do that, then yeah, he could use a new Pokémon.

He hasn't had a Poison type for quite some time now.

Maybe Gulpin or Beedrill?

I don't see him with a poison type any longer, since Seviper kinda fills that role.

Actually, since the orange islands, Team Rocket has diversified their teams. Mono-type teams tend to lead to "sameness" in abilities. Seviper knows some powerful poison type moves, so why should James get someone to specifically upstage it?

Much like Ash and friends, Team Rocket has Pokémon that fufill similar roles over the course of a generation's run.

Jessie has:
A venomous Pokémon, specifically a snake (Seviper fills this role, but if a new generation introduces a new poison-type snake, then Seviper might be replaced by that).

Wobbuffet (It's probably not going to leave, since the writers are still amused by it's running gag). It's also Meowth's right hand man if he needs one.

Most recently, a flying bug (Dustox was the first, but it was replaced by Yanmega. It's also her main contest Pokémon). Note that Dustox was part poison, but it's been replaced with a bug/flying type.

James has:
A plant that's violently affectionate to James (Victreebel, who was also part poison, then Cacnea and now Carnivine's effectively replaced it in that role).

A BFF (A Pokémon he speicfically babies) Chimecho was the first, and that got replaced by Mime Jr.

There's also Meowth, who could count as either a Pokémon or a fully-fledged "human" character. Due to being at a "higher" anthromorphic level then most Pokémon.

It'd be nice if he got a new Pokemon, though I have absolutely no idea what Pokemon from this gen would be good.

Not Tangrowth.

There has been very little Tangela in the show, and Tangrowth hasn't appeared at all, and while it would fill the slot for James' violently affectionate Grass-type, there are two reasons why I don't want that to happen:

1. The gag is getting old. Just let James keep his Carnivine and we're good.

2. It would be nice to see a new Pokémon for a change. Not a baby, like Chimes and Mimes, but rather a Pokémon he uses for fights but what is also useful for other things, and it would have more depth than just a running gag. Wobbuffet used to do much more, now it just says it's name after the motto and occasionally pops out, but that's about it.

So yes, I'd like James capture a new Pokémon. It could be a fourth-Gen Pokémon, because it would also serve as a mandatory debut episode. But there isn't much Pokémon we haven't seen yet (apart from cameos)...

I want to see James with a Tangrowth that hates his guts for some reason.

Maybe Scorupi too. Not that he babies it, but it could evolve into a Drapion or something.

Mm... I always wanted to see James with that Growlithe he had in that one Season 1 ep (Which obviously makes it impossible for that to happen, since most younger viewers never even knew that). But really, James has a strong affinity to Grass types, which is why he was accompanied with Victreebel, Cacnea, and Carnivine for most of this time (And the violent "I love you!" gag). I believe James, however, should capture something that's unique to the series, like Yanmega came to be when it appeared (Well, in my opinion, that is, since Yanmega hasn't made a prior ep for that.)

Long story short, I suppose I want James to catch something that hasn't appeared in the anime yet, such as... Well, actually, I can't really think of any pokemon currently except for lolthePorygonfamily. But, to contridict that statement, it'd also be kind of nice for James to catch a Tropius or a Altaria, so meh. Sue me.

Lol @ James and his "BFF". I love Mime JR. If he found use for it more, that'd be awesome.

Anyway, I remember back then, I always wanted to see James with a badass Pokemon. When his "Growlie" evolved, I wanted it to go with him, but it didn't. Before that, he had that Gyarados that was angry with him for kicking it, and he didn't even have the brains to retrieve it to his Pokeball.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder, what would be the point of giving James another Pokemon? They obviously don't want him to have the big threatening types like either of the two mentioned above, because they want James to fail. With that being said, what's the point of calling in another Pokemon to become yet another study in mopishness?

...I wouldn't exactly say "doomed to fail" to describe James and his relationship to his Pokémon.

He's a good way of showing that despite being a "designated villain", he isn't really that bad a person. He sees his Pokémon as friends and tries to develop loving relationships with them, without the need to use them in competitions like nearly all the other main characters. He's like Brock in that way.

If the show keeps bringing back the Pokeringer competitions, then they really ought to give him a flying type instead of having him having to borrow Musashi's (Dokucale for the one in Houen and, most likely, Megayanma for the one in Shin'nou) all the time.

Maybe they could give James a Masquerain... cuteish and flying. Havit it start as a sirskit, maybe get a running gag of random bug and possibly other pokemon going to it for the sweet juices on its head, then have it evolve later on.

I'm for James having another Pokémon. I never like it when Jessie has more Pokémon then James. I would perfer that each have equal number of Pokémon.

I mean, Jessie has her prime battler (Seviper), secondary battler (Yanmega), and sidekick (Wobbuffet).

James has prime battler (Carnivine) and sidekick (Mime Jr.).

I would like to see James with Tangrowth. I looked awhile back to see which Gen IV would work best as James newest Pokémon and Tangrowth seemed the best one for him.

I think it would be great if it's like Jessie's Yanmega, where he catches it and evolves in the same episode.

I also like to see his Tangrowth be passive and be scaried of Jessie like James is and for Tangrowth to use: Vine Whip, Giga Drain, AncientPower, and Brick Break as its attack moves.

I'm not saying they're doomed to fail with him. I'm saying doomed to fail in their "purpose".

It really has nothing to do with his great or poor personality at all in this case.

What I'm saying is that some are complaining that James needs a new Pokemon because his current two don't do much. Well, what would be the point of some powerhouse or new thing if it's just gonna end up in the same position as the other two? On a losing team, likely only adding to their rather quick losses, taking something of a backseat, perhaps adding to a gag--just, in the same position. He's fine with what he has.

So they can continue rehashing an idea in every region?

Just cause they bring back pokeringer, who says its actually going to be hashed? It could be fine. And thats why I thought masquerain as it flies, but I don't know it would be in same league as other pokemon that fly.
