Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

I didn't really like the Underground because it felt like it had nothing to do with Pokemon. You couldn't have your party, hatch eggs, meet wild Pokemon, or battle and almost nothing you did there contributed to the "real" game. Felt like another game entirely.

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

Only thing i used it for was to get fossils. Which happen so rarely for me that it's not even worth it. So I, for one, will not care if it doesn't make it in.

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

I'm already tired of Sinnoh Underground and if it really was in HGSS they would have announced that already. Secret Bases in the overworld would be cool though.

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

The Fossil thing would have been OK if there were more than 7 fossil Pokemon out of 493 and how well you dug the fossil made the revived Pokemon have better stats or moves.

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

The Sinnoh Underground was boring. Now if it had Wi-Fi connection like the Wi-Fi plaza then maybe it would be good.

This. Exactly this.
I'll just use my DPP for Underground treasure hunting and focus on Pokethlon and whatever in HGSS.

If they bring the UG back, they need to add Wifi, more fossils, and the ability to battle and discover wild Pokemon. Imagine digging for a fossil and finding out it was actually a Dugtrio, for instance. Or finding a lost Pokemon Egg. THAT would be nice.

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

I only used the underground for Fossils and Heart Scales. I no longer need fossils as I have them all and there are no new ones in the remakes...because they're remakes. As a result all I need is a ready supply of Heart Scales, or their HGSS equivalent. There are hundreds of potential ways of doing that so an underground would be redundant in my eyes as all thats left to appeal to me are bases and minigames, both of which would be far more interesting above ground.

Yeah, when they said you can buy stuff there, I thought it would be like Goldenrod's underground but expanded into a whole city or mini region.

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

I would like to see a Johto Underground. Even if it isn't the greatest thing added to the games I think it's a good way to get away from the plot sometimes

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

I don't really like the idea of adding such a place that is such a big area (even if it is underground) to a place we have already seen before. Does Johto have the same underground passages that Kanto does? If so then how'd you add an underground with those there? Also we havn'tr seen any underground vents in videos of the game, so I'm assuming there is no underground and there will be another way of getting stones/fossils...either trade from D/P/Pt or buy stones in Celedon department store perhaps? The fossils you get in GSC will still be there mostl likley, but others you'll have to trade for or they will be in game some way we don't know about yet.

You get any Fossil in GSC? The only thing I remember is the trade for an Aerodactyl, which isn't even the actual Fossil. Other than that, I don't remember the old Fossils or the other Fossil Pokémon being available anywhere in GSC.

That aside, well... I agree with Wolvorn. It's not really needed to have the Underground in HGSS. I enjoy the feature myself, besides the awful Secret Bases when compared with RSE. But besides treasure excavation, it wouldn't be actually needed. Of course, I hope they give you a way to get more Evolution Stones not named Sun Stone or Moon Stone, and not just a single one of them like in GS. Since they had such feature in Crystal, there shouldn't be a problem, hopefully.

Re: Johto Undrground Discussion

I'm changing the name of this thread because it is very misleading. It leads someone who just sees the title into thinking Johto has an Underground.

Gen III's upgrades seemed more focused on gameplay mechanics than overworld features, but the secret base idea was top. I was gutted when I saw what became of them in gen IV. Really, the whole thing with having to talk to people 50 times to get a clear area sucks. And it's much harder to even enter the bases. I even gave up fossil hunting and pal parked a Cradily because it was taking so long. No underground. All features from gen II plus Secret bases.

It'd be easy to say "Well the Underground doubles the amount of land in the game! So there should be an Underground in HGSS!" But then I realize that I don't visit the Sinnoh Underground that much because it's gimmicky (I have to tap around my screen to find a rock that I should be able to find aboveground), uninteresting (it's not fun walking around talking to no one, finding no Pokemon, or anything. And who wants to live in a cave? I think the Resort Area house in Pt is a much more interesting idea) and it's also repetitive (I need to talk to 32 people to get a Spiritomb? Come on! Nintendo knows most people will just find one person and have them leave and re-enter the Underground 32 times. It's frakkin' boring.)

So it's a big N-O from me. Besides, if there's an Underground in Johto, should there be one in Kanto as well? What I don't understand is how you wander all around under Sinnoh (wouldn't that make the entire region unstable?) and still end up in the same place when you resurface. It'd be neat if you could travel around Sinnoh by going underground. The only problem would be buildings and water.

They should bring back proper Secret Bases, like the ones in RSE. It was always interesting to be walking around Hoenn and find a hole somewhere leading to a little cave with one of my friends in it. It didn't happen often, but it was cool when it did. It'd be even better if Nintendo swapped out Secret Bases with random people's over Wi-Fi... a constant supply of new and undiscovered bases waiting to be found...

Yes, but still I get addicted to the shard collecting game. At the begining I didn't like it, but I ended up liking it a lot, even if it had nothing to do with the game. I wouldn't mind if it doesn't come back (which is the most probable thing for me), but if it does, I'll welcome it with a big grin. But then it'll need Wi-Fi to say the least.

I don't think they should, but they will most likely put it in.

As for my opinion on the underground, I would say I'm on the fence. On one hand I get rare items sometimes, but other than that, it's crap
