Just wondering what you all thought. HGSS remained faithful to the original games by largely leaving Gym Leader, Elite Four and Champion teams the same (movesets, levels, Pokemon). For the most part at least. As well as Trainers that you encounter in routes, caves, forests etc.

So, would you all prefer that the same is done with ORAS? Or should the teams be redone to fit the current generation? Should GL, E4, C use their teams from Emerald or the original R/S? Or would you like to see new Pokemon in general?

This Gen was before the Physical-Special Split, and new, better moves have been added, so yeah to optimize they should definitely update.

An update would be nice. Considering Generation 3 was before the Physical Attack-Special Attack split, I expect some update, at least.

Johto's Gym Leaders had their Pokemon's levels tweaked (particularly Falkner, Bugsy, Whitney, and I think Janine.) And for the record, Falkner's team had Roost, while Bugsy's Scyther had U-Turn, and Chuck's Poliwrath used a Hypnosis/Focus Punch strategy. So yeah...

Also, their teams remained unchanged...until the rematches, where they used Pokemon from all generations. I expect the same trend to continue with ORAS.

I hope they do update, because while the Gym Leader teams were fine (the ones from Emerald anyway), the E4 suffered from repeating the same Pokemon and evolutionary lines. Glacia having Froslass and Phoebe having Dusknoir for example, would help cut the repetitiveness.

Archie and Maxie could do with an expanded team as well, by modern standards their lineup is pretty pathetic.

Pretty much, I agree 100%. Emerald teams were nice, I just want them to have six Pokemon for the last few gym leaders. Glacia's extra Seleo and Glalie could be erased for respective Avalugg and Dewgong for example. Or Drake could get Mega Altaria/Flygon/Amparos and fill the final void with Dragalge, which would make a lot of sense for a pirate-dressed Elite Four member.

I'd probably keep most of them the same and change them for rematches, including Pokemon too. Kinda like they did in Emerald but I'd give a few different ones as there's new Pokemon. Move sets should be updated though.

I would like the overall theme of the teams to be the same, but with some changes.

For example, I would like Norman to still have his Slaking as his signature Pokémon, but changes in his team according to his other Pokémon and the moves on his team may happily be changed in my opinion.

Also, with the new evolutions that has come around since the original Ruby and Sapphire, I think they will utilize this in the remakes. For example, the E4 member Phobe (don't know if it is spelled correctly) could have a Dusknoir as her strongest Pokémon instead of having 2 Dusclops. Changes like that could be very nice.

Archie's team is so bad his Sharpedo doesn't even know any Water attacks. I mean he's the leader of Team Aqua. Maxie's Camerupt only has Ember when use face him at Mt. Chimey. Otherwise he has no Fire attacks.

Fuck being faithful, if Archie's Sharpedo has its old moveset of Screech/Slash/Swagger/Taunt I'm going to scream. Sure, the important trainers should probably retain the species they used before, but that's about it. Nothing wrong with giving some of them more Pokemon and changing up the movesets/abilities. And notice how I say "species", Phoebe needs to lose the duo Dusclops and Banette. A Dusclops and Dusknoir would work, I guess.

They should really change the movesets of alot pokemon, mainly the Team Aqua/Magma Leaders, Commanders, Grunts, some Gym Leaders and E4 members pokemon, there are some pokemon with atrocious movesets that really need to be changed.

There needs to be some updates to movesets to at least the Gym Leaders, Rivals, E4, Champion, and Teams Aqua and Magma. The regular trainers can do whatever.

Like others have said, they need to take the Physical-Special split into account when picking moves.

Team Aqua and Magma need to cut down on the Poochyena and Zubat families. They need to use Water and Ground/Fire types a bit more. Why the hell don't they use the Trapinch family? Or Baltoy? Hell, Sandshrew, Poliwag, Seadra, Staryu are in the Hoenn dex. The main theme is Ground/Fire and Water. All I'm saying is, they need to take that into account more. It's probably unlikely, but I still fail to understand why a team so geared on expanding the seas and land use Zubat and Poochyena more often than Water and Ground-types. And can they have STAB moves?

The teams for the E4 didn't really bother me, but the two Dusclops, Banette, Glalie, and Sealeo can certainly be done away with by replacing them with something better~

As for the Gym Leaders, I'm too lazy to look them up, but I know quite a few of them had changed between RS and E. I would just like they to have whichever is the more challenging team~

Rivals just need to full evolve their starter. That's all I ask.
