As far as I know, this is the only pokemon without any Anime appearances. This is obviously because of that incident in the Porygon episode, and not letting Porygon or its evo's ever appear in the anime again. I personally disagree. Porygon-Z is a great pokemon, and not putting it in the anime is stupid.

Should it get it? Yes. Will it get one? No.
It's too risky of a gambit to have any Porygon pokemon in the anime. The only reason why they banned the episode was because of the rockets, not because of the Porygon itself. It was all fine until then. Porygon2 never got one either. No use crying over spilled milk.

Porygons are cool Pokemon but after the seizure fiasco I doubt any will ever get an anime appearance.

The thing is...Porygon is the pokemon most associated with that episode. The truth of the matter is that when people think "Pokemon seizure incident," they think "Porygon" even though the pokemon had nothing to do with it.

So yeah...put me in the group who thinks it should get an appearance but probably won't.

i think japan think's no country would take a porygon ep likly & just avoid episodes of it to keep everyone happy

my 1st just was that they did not want to disrespect the family member's love one's death "but then i heard they fixed that episode & played it in japan normaly around the beging time of the original series"(is that true ?) did they fix that episode of pokemon?

just a stupid thought, why did Nintendo even bother to make its evolutions when they knew about the porygon incident?
if people could remember the incident by seeing it in the anime they can also remember it by seeing it in a game.

No, that's not true. The episode has never been reaired.

What you say is actually true, however, I think Nintendo reasons it like this:

DS games are only seen by the kids. The parents may buy them, but only the kids will actually see what's on the screen. If nintendo allows a pokemon to make it into the anime however, it's extremely possible (and likely) that the mother or father will walk through the room and see what's going on. That is, if they're not already sitting in the room to begin with.

I have to wonder about that too, I mean Porygon is still in the games, I mean Porygon-2 was fine because it was probably created at the time the episode of the Porygon aired (how could it not, when Ho-oh was in the first episode).

But then Porygon-Z made an appearance in the fourth gen.

So I'm curious why is the game so different than the anime? Sure Gamefreak could've just said "Not our fault, blame the anime." But I kind of doubt they'd be that cruel if only because they could've just replaced it with an entirely different Pokemon (at least with Porygon-Z). I think Porygon and Porygon-2 would've had to stay because it would be awkward to explain a missing Pokemon.

But if they added Porygon-Z because they believed the incident long forgotten, and no one would care as much anymore, why haven't the anime taken this rationale?

I mean Porygon-Z barely resembles Porygon. It looks like some mutant alien thing that apparently can fly. I suppose it has duck features like Porygon. But it is kind of hard to see how Porygon-Z could remind people of that incident.

Oh well.

Like Adamant said; no, they never reaired the episode.

Also, nobody died from the seizures.

I read somewhere that the strobe effect had been in episodes before Electric Soldier Porygon, but after that episode, they simply removed the strobe effects and for ESP, they just banned it.

It will never happen. Ever.

The response to a mistake in Japan is to ensure that it, and everything related to it, is buried and forgotten and denied for all eternity.

I too think banning of Porygon is stupid. It wasn't it's fault.
Besides its been like 10 years (if not more) since that happened, most kids who watch the show today probably didn't even know about it.
Porygon doesn't cause seizures just by being in an episode, flashing lights does. Which tends to happen in cartoons. (But many have been toned down since, they even edited the Pokèmon Opening so I hear)

I thought I heard some rumors once that Electric Soldier Porygon was fixed on and maybe even dubbed (kind of doubt the last one) but as said before it was never aired again.

Yeah, I know. Heck, with 9/11, they lifted some episodes off the air due to the September 11th attacks (or cut scenes from movies due to the twin towers being in the shot). The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson being a very notable example, and five years afterwards, they reaired them again with few changes, if any. If we can put the whole 9/11 issue aside enough to actually reair episodes (Which, BTW, the results of 9/11 were far worse than the epilepsy outbreak of the Porygon Episode, since unlike the Porygon Seizure incident, hundreds of people DIED as a result of 9/11.). If we could do it with 9/11, they can do the same with the Porygon line.

Because 300 Japanese kids getting seizures somehow is more traumatizing for an entire world than the death of (I have no idea how many) people and the destruction of an American landmark...
People still talk about 9/11 yet those episodes were seen again.
But Porygon? The Pokèmon no one outside Japan has ever seen on anime (cept as cameos) ever? Ooooh. Scary.

Are they worried that the kids/young adults who experienced this are gonna freak out and get horrible flashbacks if they ever see Porygon again?
