Hey
Anyway, recently I have been looking for basic pokemon on the GTS (e,g Pichu, Happiny e.t.c) and have realised to get these pokemon people are wanting lvl 100 Arceus' and Reshirams and Zekroms e.t.c. And I think to myself, why?
Now, every once in a while you can come across a good and fair deal. But this is extremely rare.
So I have an idea. You can only trade a pokemon that's in the same tier as the other pokemon. Making an extremely high chance of getting a fair deal. Now obviously this has it's dis advantages but is extremely better than the current system. The only way I trade online is via GTS Negotiations as I have more chance of getting a pokemon fairly.
So, do you agree with me? And do you think the idea should be put into place?

I agree... sometimes i just want to pop onto GTS to see if a quick trade is possible, but end up spending ages changing 'location' and 'level' until i find a good deal!

for a start they could make sure its not possible to ask for pokemon at levels they can't be acquired... i.e. lvl.9 Zekrom

if not, maybe they could add a feature to the search to exclude any results that are asking for certain pokemon.. i.e. if people keep asking for the impossible lvl.9 Zekrom's, you could set the search to exclude anyone asking for a Zekrom. or exclude people asking for any legendaries.

I've always thought a cool feature would be an auction style system... like i could put up my unwanted Mew for trade, but rather than ask for a pokemon, people make offers, then i can keep checking the offers until there is one i am happy with and then the trade happens!

All I do is deposit a Pokémon and wait until someone trades me what I asked (The most outrageous thing I did was deposit a Male Tepig for a Female Purugly. I got it two weeks later). I don't bother looking for trades, I wait for the trades to come to me.

I think they need to make it so you cannot ask for something that is unavailable. It would elimitate all those asking for Lv 9 Reshirams knowing full well they cant get what they are asking for. When you tried to ask for it you could get a message saying something like it dosent exist or something. Maybe then the GTS would finally be usable the way it is supposed to be.

I agree about everything above.

However, I also think there should be an option to find people that are searching for a particular pokemon and are offering something. That way if you have an extra pokemon, you can see who is looking for that particular pokemon and what they are offering and judge if you want to trade with them.

I would really hope you would want something to improve rather than have it degrade.

However, you do raise a very valid point in that people ask for inconceivable trades all the time, and it's hard to trade on the GTS now without stumbling across something outrageous. So yes, I think Pokemon should institute something to try to prevent that. What to do, I do not know.

This would be really, really useful. I'd have a good way to get rid of all my Eevee's or other Pokemon I mass-breed.

The only change that really needs to happen is making it impossible to ask for Reshirams and Zekroms under level 9. Or the other few pokemon that you see most often (Zoruark, 5th gen final stages).

The Negotiations drives me nuts because 9 times out of 10 I get people abusing the frown/angry face no matter what I put up. I wish more people went into it just wanting to trade pokemon, not necessarily gain legendarys.

I agree with the general conclusion. GET RID OF THOSE LV. 9 REQUESTS THAT ARE IMPOSSIBLE.

The GTS is for trading, not for showing off.

I agree with BurningSoul. On GTS negotiations, I came across this guy who didn't put anything up for trade offer, but was only showing me his lvl 100 legendaries.

I think that an GTS update is extremely needed, though some of the reasons they have things the way they are currently does make sense.
Rather than making same tier trade, they should just add more specifics when searching for trades:
- Nature, Characteristics, Specific Levels, Pokemon Nicknames, Held Items, Specific Attacks
My thought on why a lot of trades end up being happiny for lvl100 Reshiram, is because it could stop other people from trading for it.
For example: if I wanted to trade with a friend over seas, and the only way to do it was through GTS. I wouldnt want someone else coming in and taking it. So given the options that GTS currently offers. I would only trade for pokemon that would seem extremely unfair for a regular trade.
Which is why more specific options/features should be added to GTS
maybe a password to make trades more specific, or having trainer number locks/holds so that a specific trainer has a specific amount of time to trade before the pokemon offer goes public.

Though a lot of those ideas might sound really cool or very useful. The chances of getting updates like those are very slim.
Why?
Because, its called a "global trade system" for a reason. If you were to put locks/holds/passwords. It would be taking out a lot of the "global" (in this case meaning social interactive-niss) out of it. Thats probably something Nintendo / Game Freak wouldn't want, because they're just recently opening up to the whole online stuff.
But maybe sometime later in the future!
Keep your fingers crossed I guess

especially since idiots can ASK for a level 9 and under Zekrom, yet I can't give said idiot one because GTS says the pokemon is hacked...

B/W2 will be the FOURTH opportunity for GF to fix all the problems with the GTS, but at this point, I think either they don't know how to fix the problems I think wouldn't be too hard (stopping kids from asking for impossible pokemon such as the level 9 and under zekrom), or they just don't care to.

I can understand that it can be hard to implement a system to stop people from asking for a legitimate pokemon, but will be non-realistic (a level 100 Arceus, which you CAN get, for a pidgeot, which you can also get), but Game Freak not fixing the other problems with the GTS, such as it letting you ask for pokemon you can NOT get legally, not letting you scroll through more than 6(?) people at a time, not changing the name of the pokemon to it's original name (or have the option to), etc. I think is unacceptable at this point. They've had Platinum, HGSS, and now BW to fix it.

Until they do the following:
1. stop people from asking for impossible pokemon (level 9 and under Zekroms)
2. let you scroll through more than 6 people at a time
3. having the option to have the pokemon you'd get revert to it's real name (I, for one, don't want a nicknamed pokemon that I have no control over changing)
4. maybe have it to where you can choose whether or not you are willing to give a legendary pokemon for a non-legendary or not
5. not make it to where you will lose your own pokemon if it stays up for trade too long. (I miss that Raikou... and I never even got a Chimchar for it)

I will consider the GTS a complete failure.

All I really want fixed is the level thing. :< If I can't give them their level 1 Zek/Resh, they shouldn't be able to ask for it. Also, the fact that if you're inactive in trading, they show you like only 3 options. I'm sorry if life and a job get in the way of actively trading, game, but that is no reason for punishment. D8

The level 9 legendaries thing is absolutely dumbfounding, also, there should be some sort of refresh option to re-search, as well as additional filters that let you filter out unreasonable trades (Level three bidoof for a level 100 Charizard).

Other than the auction thing mentioned, I would have them show more than 7 search results at a time. Asking for "trade tiers" though is impossibly dumb. If I want to give away my lv100 Darkrai to somebody offering a lv 2 Patrat I WILL FRIGGIN DO IT DAMNIT

Fix the part where you can't trade stuff like Froslass because it has a naughty word in it.

Tell me about it. I'd love to beat these sorry twerps at their own slagging game, but I am unable to do so and it maddens me.

Number one and two are a definite yes. I'm dead sick of seeing the impossible level 9 and under trades on the GTS. It makes searching for a legit Legendary slagging impossible. As for number two--I'm a bit lucky. I have a copy of both Black and White and I've found shinies listed on Black but not White and vice versa. Please let me scroll through all the listings if it all possible. Yes, I'll sit for an hour or two looking for that shiny Golett: I am that insane.

Number three would be great as well. Then I could take a couple of horribly named Goletts and restore their dignity, if you will.

Granted, I shouldn't complain. I've managed to nail 83 shiny Automatons from the GTS. They've cost me, believe me. I've given up at least one Arceus and more Mews than I care to count in order to get them. But I happily gave them up in order to get that shiny Golett/Golurk. It was well worth the price to me. But in all honesty, I shouldn't have to pitch out a Jirachi or a Celebi in order to get a blasted Reshiram or Palkia because every listing for either one is for a level 9 and under Zekrom. It's freaking insane and it needs to be fixed.

I forgot about that one. I thought that they have actually worked on that one, unlike the others. But it has been a while since I've used the broken feature known as GTS.

yet another problem to add to the list I suppose

In my opinion it is mostly the users who are ruining this thing and it's always difficult to solve a social problem through technology. Still, GameFreak could do a lot more than they do now.

Until they do the following:
1. stop people from asking for impossible pokemon (level 9 and under Zekroms)
2. let you scroll through more than 6 people at a time
...

The one in bold would pretty much fix the problem, for me anyway. I'd happily and calmly scroll through the tens of possible and impossible Zekrom requests to find the 10% of reasonable proposals. I've posted this before here: would eBay work if you could only see the first six ads?

Fix the part where you can't trade stuff like Froslass because it has a naughty word in it.

It's beyond silly we can't use names that GameFreak themselves chose, but now that I know, I just nickname them.

I'd love that. I like to breed Pokemon on my commute and give them away on the GTS and this would save me tons of time.

Yes I totally agree. I hate having to only look at 6 options and then I have to change my search terms.

They should allow you to do an identical search after those 6 options and bring you 6 new ones at least. Or just allow us to browse through as many as we want.
