There was a Gold-Silver page made before that was announced. Ruby-Sapphire remakes seems to be the new discussion, and the games have been having quite a few Hoenn references lately.

No.

I'd love more Steven at some point though. But not for about 8-10 more years. :/

At least I waited until DP had been out in Japan for a year before I made a userspace page listing the hints I found relevant. If we're getting RSG5 or not, let's wait until Gen V itself comes about and we see what's there before we make any hasty "LOL RS REMAKE TOMORROW FOR SURE" predictive pages go anywhere near the mainspace.

The only real hint we have at this moment in time is "they remade RBY and GSC, why not RSE too?". There's a reason we don't have the Shipping pages in the main namespace, or even linked to from it.

My vote is not until Gen V has been released, and we see of those titles contain as many hints towards Hoenn as D/P did towards Johto. For those that are concerned with logging hints, I have had an outline for a RS remake speculation page that can be used.

While I believe we will see them, let's not jump the gun. Patience.

I would not want it to exist, really.. I think Ruby/Sapphire is too new for a remake.. Even if it happened to remake, there's not much changes except the animation, I believe.. So I vote no..

The bigger issue is compatibility. I don't see a need for remakes when RSE can trade with Gen IV (and presumably onward.) Gen I and II lack this.

That said, we shouldn't have had an article on "GSDS" or HGSS before it was announced, and there was a significant war underway before the HGSS announcement about the quality and validity of the "GS Remake" article. Way too early to go through that with a RS remake.

7 years is too new?
Not so much that they're "too new" or "too old", just that remakes are sort of unneccessary at this point in time.

One primary good reason for HGSS is the fact that virtually everyone's GSC battery is dead. The clock sucks up battery power much quicker than anticipated and therefore batteries only last about ten years. RSE lack this flaw, as save files are saved with flash memory. (there is a clock battery present, but if it dies, your Pokemon and progress and what not are still preserved. You just can't do time-based events)

Also, it's still quite feasible to play a Generation III game. Game Boy Advance stuff is like the VCR of video gaming: most Pokemon gamers have reasonable access to a Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, or DS Lite. Also, you can still find GBA games at mainstream used game retailers like EB Games and GameStop. It's not like first gen or second gen where you usually have to go to a specialty retailer.

Finally, Pokemon from the third gen games can migrate to fourth gen, a feature which was absent in the Johto games and really ticked off a bunch of people for some reason. So you won't "lose" your Pokemon to older technology... so its not like you need a remake to "recreate" them.

Sorry for the tl;dr but that's why I think we don't need a RSE remake (yet) o_O;

you forget that while they are not needed as much as HGSS or FRLG, people would still buy them if they were made.

I wouldn't expect them to be seen until Gen V. By which time I would love to see a remake. Hoenn was awesome, and I love Ruby, a remake of those games would be most welcome to me.

I think they will make "more" people buy it when the next console is out.. That's when people truly need it..

I thought we were running off the idea that these games WOULD be on the new console.

After Gen 5 comes, then make the official thread. Personally, I'd rather have a Emerald remake but thats unimportant.

If one does get made, it will have features of emerald in it, just as HGSS have Crystal elements in the story line.

Well, I see a significant difference between the GSDS article and the RSG5 proposal. GSDS started out pretty crappy, yes, but at least it started after we had had DP; it was nearly a year old in Japan and half a year old in the US. Gen V, hell, we don't even have any Pokémon beyond 493 yet! The games aren't announced, the DS2 isn't officially announced (here's hoping they call it the Game Boy Tilt or something, the Game Boy line needs to return).

Rest assured, when Generation V becomes a reality, and we make that article (more, release it from the lock and key it's under), RSG5 will be mentioned on it readily, alongside the point that if RS is remade, will they remake FRLG, and include Kanto in every generation...? And if so, what does that say about each following generation? We'd have RS remakes, RG remake remakes... eventually we'll get to remakes of remakes of remakes in Gen VII.

So here's my three points. Gen V will be our turning point. And it'll be a major one for the franchise as well. Either we're gonna have Kanto be finally dropped, the remake series dropped, or we're gonna have generations lasting seven or eight years. And just imagine what that'll do to the anime. A year per badge. Holy. Crap.

BASICALLY: HOLD YOUR HORSES.

ideally, i think we should focus our efforts on whats already on our plate. we have plenty of articles and pages that need work right now. no reason to jump the gun and go off about something that may or may not happen. this is a big "wait and see" for now, of course, one person did sort of say something pretty notable:

...and given that evkl is awesome, his comment says it all really. that being said im going to close this thread. if anyone wants to discuss R/S remakes, please take them to the appropriate forum.
