With the release of so many CGI animated films lately should there be a Pokemon CGI movie? Of course the plot would have to be much more intense/interesting but I think it would be pretty cool to see. I got the idea from seeing 300 over the weekend. They had this awesome wolf in the beginning and I just thought to myself 'that would be a Mightyena'. It would be awesome to see actual definition on the Pokemon skin. Scales, feathers, fur, stone, steel, fire.. etc. The attacks would be awesome!

The effects they have in the movies is enough, but picturing it completely in CGI reminds me of how weird it was seeing Digimon X Evolution, the 3D cgi digimon movie (I think that was the name)

I dont think a just cgi only pokemon movie would look good. But it would be cool to somehow make a real pokemon movie with real actors/people and cgi the poke's, effects etc... this would never happen because it would be low budget and it would probably be just to hard to do and have it look good. But its funny to think about.

Maybe a short (with Pokemon only)...cel-shaded would be nice.

But not a whole movie.

Oh sure, and next we'll need real life characters for another movie, amirite?

Let the show be.

No, they'd probably make Ash and co. look like The Incredibles.

I think if they did it right, it'd be pure awesomeness.

However, I do think it'd be weird to CG Ash and the gang. So many just a movie that focuses on Pokemon, with no humans?

Pokemon are supposed to be like caricatures of real creatures, so making them look super-realistic with CGI would seem very strange and, well, creepy.

Pokemon Snap was all I needed to realize Pokemon character designs (humans)+3D animation=scary. And Meowth's Party. Meowth's head looks like a mace in CG...

If they could do CG, but cel-shaded, like SD Gundam Force, though... That could be interesting.

I agree with Bell. Digimon X Evolution was just a bit too wierd, and i really don't think that Pokemon would be able to pull it off either.

If anything, they should ditch the digital coloring and CG and go back to hand-drawing and hand-painting everything. :p

No way. I don't want Pokemon to turn into Digimon X Evolution or Appleseed. Now if they could get Squenix to do the CGI...maybe (Pokemon, with Advent Children graphics ^^) but otherwise...no.

Why? It's not like the show suddenly started looking bad with the adoption of digital coloring.

Exactly. Going back to all-analog method wouldn't make the show "less stiff" (the #1 complaint I've heard about the animation since it went digital) because the show has always been, for the most part, low-budget and stiff.

Plus, doing things digitally is a whole lot cheaper.
