Silhouettes revealed to be Rotom forms: New types based on appliances

Several retailers have shipped Pokémon Platinum before its Saturday release date, and game leaflets reveal the latest silhouettes to be alternate forms of Rotom. These forms are obtained by using the event-exclusive Secret Key item, which will be distributed in Japan via Wi-Fi and retail stores beginning September 28. Rotom will transform into one of five forms depending on where the player uses the item.

Honestly, thats the oddest pokemon ever I think. It has to be a man made genectically engineered pokemon or something. I like the pokemon, and yet I don't cause its not really pokemon like. I would not mind getting the forms, but I won't have the game for a while.

I like the frost Rotom. Anybody remember refrigerator Kirby from Crystal Shards?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the idea is that Rotom is an electricity-based ghost (hence the typing), and it possesses various appliances to take on its different forms.

Dude, that game was the best!

Anyway, I had a feeling that this was what the five forms were, though I would have bet anything that the green one was a video camera (he's still my favoirte though ^_^)

Thank goodness they are unofficially calling it the Oven Form. The damn thing doesn't even look like a toaster.

Possibly the most pointless thing Gamefreak has ever done. Except Dunsparce.

But never mind!

Such terrible ideas, just terrible. I am afraid of what will come out of the 5th gen if GameFreak continues to dump garbage designs on us like these Rotom forms. FAIL.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of originality if I were you guys. Not after Generation III gave us Butterfree Beautifly, along with a pile of Pokémon that made me flee the franchise while I could.

Apparantly teh interwebz doesn't like my sarcasm because BMGf crashed for a second and my post is gone so I'll be more straightforward.

How exactly are these terrible ideas? They've practically had this set up from D/P with their little poltergeist inhabiting a television. Fans have already wondered "what if Rotom lived in other appliances" and now we know. Its not like this is the first time we've been given Pokemon that weren't animalistic. However this is the first time that Game Freak has given us an Ghost Pokemon to actually posses something. Of course the concept behind that is terrible.

I'm also surprised by that last comment. You act as if household appliance Pokemon will be the norm int he future. Game Freak are not idiots. They made Rotom based off of kitchen appliances because it was fitting to the concept behind Rotom. Besides, its not liek Gamefreak hasn't done this in the past in the forms of Voltorb and Magnemite, the latter's design atleast is justifiable by its concept. I mean why does Voltorb need to evolve? Magnemite is a magnet, so people woudl naturally wonder what happens if they got stuck together. Now we even learn of a "fuller" evolution of the Magnemite line where the separate forms have amalgamated into one body, but of course, that's totally an unoriginal concept aswell. The tadpole turning into a frog in generation II, now that was brilliant. Took a lot of mind-power tot hink that up.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of originality if I were you guys. Not after Generation III gave us <s>Butterfree</s> Beautifly, along with a pile of Pokémon that made me flee the franchise while I could.

Monarch and Viceroy butterflies. If God and or Natural Selection (take your pick) does it why can't Game freak, which tries to create an entire world based on creatures of their own.

Oh incase anyone is too lazy, both butterflies look exactly the same eventhough they aren't at allr elated to each other apart from being butterflies.

I'm not sure if you people are half-joking, but if one thing still annoys the ever-living crap out of me, it's people going "Gamefreak ran out of ideas".

Seriosuly, shut up.

I think Gen IV is more original than Gen III. So I'm saying that Game Freak ran out of ideas, then gained more and is still working off those. Does that count?

What part of Generation III was less original? Don't tell me it was the butterflies -_-

Atleast they croped up 135 "unique" species rather than going on an evolution overload (though I did miss that in RSE)

Well, be thankful that they'ved used the appliance-based ideas now rather then for the 5th generation.

Besides, Pokémon aren't all ment to be animals.

No, not just the butterflies. These are all in my opinion, but:
Claydol
Duskull
Spheal
Snorunt
As well as countless others are just sort of ridiculous. I'm not saying I dislike ALL gen III Pokémon; Flygon, especially, is cool. And as pointless as it may have seemed at the time, Snorunt now evolves into Froslass, which is just awesome. But on the whole, III was my least favorite generation.

Anyway, this is all my opinion and has little to no bearing on... anything. Ever.

I think these forms actually show a profound amount of creativity not seen in some time. They took a lower tier character and added a lot of interest in it by making a heavily stylized series of new forms.

I hope it is possible to get all the forms, I have witty nicknames for all of them.

I wouldn't call if pointless; it was the only way they could bring in new Pokemon of sorts to a new version, and the idea's quite original, I never expected it, although I expected Rotom formes from the lightning bolt. And Dunsparce is awesome.
