Excited for SoulSilver, I downloaded a ROM of Silver because my Silver cart doesn't work anymore. I put in some cheats, just to play around and such. I guess I put in a weird cheat, or weird combination of cheats somewhere. Shiny Pokemon appear, then the screen fades to white. I decided to just go for the story without battling, so I can look around Kanto, and well... this. It only happens for about a second before the battle fades out, but I thought it was funny, since I thought she was female back when I first played. No, I don't actually consider Silver female anymore, at least not in special canon. I don't know, though. "She's" kinda fruity.

Picture is both Silver being addressed as female, and the list of cheats I used to get the result.

Well, the picture didnt work for me, but I always thought Silver was a girl too XD Great minds thing alike...

In my first run through, I called Silver Kelly ?, Kelly cause my sister wanted that name for the rival and I thought he was a she. The ? was because s/he says, "my name is ???."

I learned better a month later.

Is the only reason we can conclude that someone is male or female is basically because of the words they use in Japanese? I heard male and female use a common pronoun that identifies them as such.

Because I'm thinking of Saturn, in the anime they gave Saturn an extremely feminine voice (the original anyway).. And while sure Saturn is a male, is there any absolutely proof? I mean I'm not sure we could judge by appearance alone because there are a lot of or I know a few examples where there have been androgynous characters, and as far as I know it seems really popular to have androgynous characters in Japan.

So how do we know some of these ambiguous characters are the gender we see them as.

Can you imagine if Saturn was female and how inappropriate/awkward "her" dub voice is. If a girl talked like that, I'd probably have nightmares.

I think they might have done that intentionally, since GSC was when they started with the whole boy/girl thing. I mean, Silver could have gone either way at that point, people could have reasonably given him a girl's name.

I think he's male. Maybe the manga will help? Let's get help from someone who reads them. And the gender of the pokémon he uses is also a good factor. In the games are the most pokémon's of the same genders as their owners.

This entire thread is a joke, right? Questioning if Silver is female? Come on. >_>

Throwing a bunch of random gameshark codes into a rom causing things to glitch up, isn't exactly evidence. If there was really any indication of Silver being a female in the games code, it would have been found a long time ago.

Agreed. Silver has been a boy since day one, just because you thought he was a girl doesn't mean anything. I personally knew he was a boy since the first time I saw him, there's absolutely nothing feminine about him at all.
