Title explains everything. I seem to have noticed when my little cousins sit around on Saturday mornings and get wired off Trix and TV, the show Dinosaur King has very distinct similairties with Pokémon. First off is the animation style. Second, who else do we know who follows around the male protagonist, a cute little electric creature who refuses to be contained in it's proper electronic capsule? *coughPikachucough* Third is similarities between voices. (Please people, voice actor discussion is banned. All I said was "similar".) Notice the gravelly voice of the male protagonist. Plus, the evil trio. That's third. Same personalities, voices... Always fail in devised plan to cause trouble for the main group... (In one episode, I even saw them get blasted off in a rocket!!!)

I'm having deja vu of Kimba vs. Simba. I know this can't be copyright infringement, since Kid's WB owned some of the rights to Pokémon at one point, but... Is this show an attempt at replacing Pokémon, or, competing with it for the thousands of young viewer's soaring ratings? Does anyone else who's seen it agree?

Yup I noticed the voice of the main kid right away because I was half asleep when it was on, and I woke up instantly thinking Pokemon had returned to network television, but was disappointed.

Anyways, it's not surprising that other shows have tried to copy the formula of a cartoon that has been running since the 90s. The show is not that good in my opinion.

Watched about 5 episodes of this Anime and I thought something similar, but it really hit me when one of those bad guys (I don't know her name) sounds like Jessie, I was like o_O.

Aside from some of the same VAs (which you know 4Kids did on purpose) there really aren't any similarities. Pokemon didn't invent the bumbling trio idea afterall.

No, I sort of wish they had kept James more like Lucian and Jessie less squirrely and trying to sound catty.
