So since everyone and their mother is arguing about all these big changes and all that shit, I want to discuss quite the opposite. I want to discuss the smaller things, but that are still noticeable and can be one of those "Man this game is great but why does this little thing right here suck, it could have been better :/" or something like that. Also I think this discussion will prevent everyone from making college entry essays and start irrelevant noob flame wars over the internet.

The first change I would like is if they gave me an option to make the Pokemon's nickname longer. 10 letters sometimes doesn't cut it for me I would like an increase to maybe 15 if possible. On that note I would also like the PalPad friend name to be longer than it is now, which is I think about 7 letters. Sometimes I add people with similar names or some names can't even fit when shortened to make sense.

Another thing I'd like to see improved is the slow UI. I mean some battles in Gen IV can take up to 20 minutes if your opponent has strong Pokemon and things like Sandstorm and Leftovers are in affect, and some attack animations just take too long. Other things like walking and moving were horribly slow...especially in the goddamn snow...it's understandable but I mean come on...it's a RPG but let's try to keep it reasonable. So yeah if they could improve the speed of battle animations and walking that would be really great.

Also just a common sense heads up kind of thing; if you're gonna be flame baiting, or wanting to start some idiotic flame war then this thread isn't for you. Also on that note if you're gonna get angry with everything and everyone's OPINIONS and post in ALL CAPS then this isn't the thread for you. If you cannot act civil I will make sure you are disposed of.

I don't really have much to say, other than the fact that it made me laugh to see a thread called "Simplistic Small Changes"" posted by Charles Darwin. XD

(And hasn't there an option to turn off battle animations for a while now? If you want faster battles and animation, I think you're kind of out of luck, because I think if the animations moved any faster it would look incredibly awkward, like the game was on fast-forward.)
 
Eh, I'm comfortable with the speed.

The one thing I want is to get rid of those stupid 2D overworld sprites which look so out of place in a 3D world, but I know that's not happening.
 
While agreeing with both the character limit extention and the battle speed increase, the walking speed doesn't bother me much. I think it's generally agreed upon tht having weather effects constantly happenining, as well as displaying messages at the same time as certain effects, would relieve us of much idle time spent in long battles.
Another small change I'd like to see would be the ability to change your Pokemon's ball. I mean, all of my team's Pokemon are hatched from eggs, so it gets kind of boring to have them all in the standard Pokeball. If not a change like that, then at least more interesting ball seals would be appreciated. However, if seals return, I better be able to deposit my Pokemon without removing them.

easier ways to see IV's/EV's (without confusing the people who aren't aware of them)
 
Some of the pokéballs power down. Dusk ball should be ×3 instead of ×4, and if the apricorn balls return, a lot of them need to be powered down.
 
Better battle sprites. It's a minor peeve as most sprites are much better than they used to be but still. Some of them look pretty... lifeless.

Other than that, I think some more father presence would be a welcome addition. Maybe make him a side CPU like your Mother is in a lot of the games, just popping in here and there, maybe with a helpful item like an amulet coin or something. Again, a minor irk but whenever I play a Pokemon game I always think "where's the father?".
 
Yes. Why are they still using crys for 1-251 that are out of place with the rest? Can't they just use the stadium 2 cries? Oh wait, the noglasta freaks will whine.

Also, the wifi battles should lag less, and it should have real online play (no crappy fcs) with a anti cheat that works (remember gen IV and the hacks?).

Oh, and even though this won't happen, they should make the graphics look better. Like instead of 2d sprites, they should be in 3d. As then it wouldn't look like hgss.
 
Better cries, and thembeingon3DS.

Turn off battle animation if it is too slow for you.
 
they should keep the cool 2d battle sprites, but make the boy cooler. it seems like every generation he's becoming....weirder looking (but the girls are getting better every gen).

also, speed things up a bit; make walking a bit faster, the runniing shoes a bit faster, and the bike a bit faster. platinum's surf speed was good, though.

I agree with the 3D spirits and I'd also like more improved battle animations so my poke isn't just stand still while using moves.

Oh and I find the task of having to walk till I aquire running shoes lame why can't I just run like a normal person when ever I want!

I'd like the ability to put items back into the PC. Small change, but it's damn ass useful for people like me who don't like scrolling down a list for five minutes/through pages.
A way to actually view a Pokémon's IV's.

My opinion is nearly the opposite of that. The boys have looked pretty cool every generation and the girls' appearances have been getting worse and worse.
Crystal? Pretty cool looking.
May? A little plain, but still alright.
Leaf? Plain, however nice.
Dawn? Utterly horrible. Don't know why but something about her just doesn't look right.
Kotone? Alright.

But that's just my opinion.
 
Being able to switch between kg/pound and meter/feet in the Dex. I mean there are "translated" from kg and meter anyway and it wont change anything.

Also being able to rid of key items so I don't have to sort out the list for ease. Why would I ever keep a card key to a secret door during the brief time it's locked well after it's use.
 
Here's a thing: IN DPPt, when Boxing around, if you're doing Move Pokemon (And really, with that option, does anyone use Deposit or Withdraw?), have a pokemon in your hand already, and pick another one, they'll switch places, so now you have the other one in your hand.

In HGSS, the second one just flies to wherever you picked the first one up from.


This change still bugs the FUCK out of me. I have no idea why they made it, because it usually means i'm switching boxes around a lot more than I used to.
 
I wish there was an easier way to mass release Pokemon. Like release 2+ Pokemon at once...releasing one at a time is very tedious.

Yeah. One time use key items should just disappear.
