Well, aren't (at least some) Pokémon intelligent and competent enough to qualify for the death sentence? Let's say one somehow ends up killing a human out of hostility. I don't think the Pokémon should get any special legal rights that a human wouldn't get if he did the same thing. Feel free to discuss. (Wow, I'm mean. :eek:)

Has this ever happened though? Pokemon seem much more peacefully inclined and most probably wouldn't go so far as to kill some one.

Also, does the death penalty even exist in the pokemon world? There is no evidence to suggest it does, or doesn't, but in all of Ash's travels in all of the games no one was ever killed on purpose.

No. Some Pokemon may have the common sense to avoid killing humans (and some may kill humans unintentionally, or on purpose), but they're not qualified for the death sentence.

One of the Regi's killed Steven/Wallace in the manga right? I haven't seen it for a while.

Some pokemon may have intelligence rivaling or outshining a human but they are still not human and laws that apply to humans have no grounds in applying to any pokemon.

The argument Pokemon = People is wrong as;

people = humans
humans =/= pokemon
people =/= pokemon

Pokemon aren't naturally evil and thus probably wouldn't do so unless around an evil person and even then they'd probably would have to be ordered to kill by their trainer which then the murder would fall primarily on the trainer for the order.

However, on the other hand, I'm not sure if they can kill a person. they seem to be able to cause a lot of harm to a person without killing them but then again the humans in their world might be more immune to Pokemon attacks then we would be.

Except when they're born that way, Mewtwo?. and when you endanger their climate, Lugia. And when they fight over dominance, 3 birds. and when they get made at eachother and everyone in the cross fire are ants, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. OH! and when you steal their beloved jewel, ARCEUS.

Or when they're just a bunch of dicks, Beedrill.

Or when they lure people to their frozen deaths, Froslass.

Or when they eat your dreams leaving you braindead, Hypno.

Or when they rape little kids for the sexual thrill, Mr. Mime.

Would life without parole be better for a Pokémon, then?

thing is, Pokemon dont get enraged till Humans tamper. sure there are fights over Territory and all that, but that seems to be natural in their world. the humans in the show are more evil then the Pokemon. IMO all pokemon actions AGAINST umans, are self defense.

Beedrill= Territorial
Froslass= just made cause it is a branched evolution for sexist trainers.
Hypno= loves the taste of dreams D=
Mr.Mime=... Point taken

Team Rocket's Meowth, and a number of other Pokemon in the anime display full sentience. In those cases, they could reasonably be convicted of murder under the same standards as humans. But the death penalty is wrong.

For some reason, the ledgies are sounding like gods to me.

I say if you can put down a dog for biting too many people, you can put down a Mr. Mime for raping too many children.

Oh yeah it's a thing to worry about. Why do you think Ash spends so much time away from home? There's a Mr. Mime there.

You people keep applying human laws of this universe to another universe, and you keep applying those said laws to pokemon not in the context of being in thier own universe but ours.
