Since the games are returning to Johto, do you think Ho-Oh and Raikou will...

Finally get their own film?

Since the anime changed to kanto after the hoenn arc, and had a movie there, which followed the games' R/S/E to FR/LG, featured heavily a pokemon introduced in that region (mew in generation 1) I'm assuming the anime will follow the D/P/Pt to Hg/Ss, and move to johto, to give the fourth movie for the DP generation, as every previous gen has had 4 movies.

And the only legendaries left to have a proper appearence live conveniantly... in Johto, so does anyone else think they will be featured, or will it be gen 5 instead?

ok, sorry, original series had 5 films

Raikou did get is own movie well it was the feature length "Legends of Thunder" so I don't think it needs a new one, a one with all dogs in it might be nice and an actual Entei, not an illusion like the one in movie 3. This way you could also have Ho-oh as the leader of the dogs (is that right?)

Right now I can't see an importance to return to Johto in anime, more reason for Kanto in first Battle Frontier arc. It was were Ash came from, it had a few good places as well as BF locations and the Battle Island in Emerald, its location was just an island that held battle frontier. Not this time, We have another battle island, but it has survival, training areas, BF area, Resort area and ribbon syndicate and finally Stark Mountain, writers could do a bunch of things here as well as the main BF arc. Sure they would want to advertise the games, but going to Johto and missing out on some good locations and story ideas using the Sinnoh Battle Island, I cat see. See:

They could have Ash challenge gym leaders in the club in the training area, they could have Ash challenge trainers in training area and maybe Barry will be training in Stark mountain. Also heatran arc might happen too. Dawn has ribbon syndicate and so on. Does not matter if this advertises some Platinum stuff. Ash and Brock could just use some of their johto pokemon, problem solved for HGSS advertising.

What makes you think they'll have movies about old Pokémon? They'll probably make a movie about a 5th gen Pokémon.

That was not feature-length. That was an hour-long Pokémon special episode like Mewtwo Returns, MOMP, and the MD specials. The Legend of Thunder is not a movie.

I'd bet on there being a movie that features the legendary beasts as well as Ho-Oh for movie 13, and then 14 having a Gen V Pokémon to advertise. Heck, it's not like a Gen V can't appear in movie 13, it can be a non-legendary, like Lucario in LMM.

The MD specials were not an hour long, and Legend of Thunder was an hour and a half.

Because they need to advertise the current games, which happen to be HeartGold and SoulSilver.

I never thought that about the Battle Frontier, it's a goog perspective. But you know, unfortunately anime writers are known for leaving out good plots (Celebi and the GS Ball in the Johto saga) and for not using legendary Pokémon in oridnary chapters (again, Celebi and the GS Ball), so I'll think they'll scrap totally the Battle Island in favor of Johto for the next Battle Frontier (what else could Ash retravel Johto for?) and that Heathran won't have its arc (especially when he already had a role in Movie 12).

Futhermore, at the infamous PokéBeach interview, the director of the anime admitted Ho-Oh was just a plot device to enocurage him to keep on traveling to new regions and to show viewers Ash is a special guy (and thus, giving us hope that he one day will become a Master and so giving us a reason for not leaving it no matter how cheesy it is), so I don't see Ho-oh as the star of a movie. But I'd really love to see a movie with the three beasts and Ho-oH together. Anyways, we don't have to wit too much, as in July, when Movie 12 premieres, it will, as always, give us a glimpse on the next movie and we will know what will happen then...

The Manaphy movie was promoting Ranger, a current game.

Oh yeah, the Lucario and Manaphy movies were sure promoting Fire Red and Leaf Green.

Lucario had Mew so yes, it was promoting FireRed and LeafGreen <3

Manaphy, as already told, promoted Ranger, a curent game too.

But I still agree with you in that Movie 13 will have a Gen V Pokémon, but the focus will be one from Gen II to promote HGSS.

The sarcasm flew right over your head didn't it?

No, I understood your comment completely. You were implying that those movies weren't promoting the then-current games. I proved you wrong by stating that the Manaphy movie was promoting Ranger, a then-current game.

Maybe my comment flew right over your head?

Wow..You can cut the tension with a butter knife!

I really don't think Ho-oh or Raikou will get their own movie any time soon. At least not the next one. Just because they did not get their own respected movies does not mean they will have one now because HG/SS will come out. It just seems so contrived.

Since every 4th legendary Pokemon have been featured in a movie or anime in some form, I believe it's about time to roll out the carpets for the 5th gen even if it may be a couple years away. Munchlax made its debut in the 6th movie but D/P wasn't released until 2 years later.

Raikou: I don't think so.
Ho-Oh: Probably. Or at least a major role in the series.

I was implying that those movies were promoting current games staring Pokémon from the 4th gen, Which don't include Fire Red and Leaf Green. Which have been released to the public for at least a while before both the Lucario and Manaphy movie were released.

What is likely to happen is that they'll have a movie or two take place in Jotho, but star Pokémon from the fifth generation.

But you said that in reply to Veggietable's claim that HeartGold and SoulSilver will be the most up-to-date games as of Movie 13. Your comment implied that he was wrong to think that.

At any rate, Movie 7 advertised FireRed and LeafGreen. Not only did it mark the debut of Attack and Defense Formes, which clearly represented those games, but Deoxys in general was only made available to FireRed and LeafGreen players. To anyone who wasn't aware of the presence of Normal Forme's data in Ruby and Sapphire, Deoxys made its game debut in FireRed and LeafGreen despite not being a Generation I critter.

What is likely to happen is that they'll have a movie or two take place in Jotho, but star Pokémon from the fifth generation.
Movie 13 will almost certainly feature Generation II Pokémon if only for the fact that there is little to no chance of seeing Generation V released by the end of 2010. The only movie whose featured characters were strictly from an upcoming generation was Movie 5, but that had to do with Ruby and Sapphire's then-imminent release date and Generation II having become outdated. Even Movies 2 and 9 showcased certain Generation I and III legendary Pokémon, respectively, though not as title characters.

Adhering to the pattern that began in 2005 of announcing an upcoming year's movie in as early as July of the previous year (via a trailer shown at the end of the preceding movie), we may very well see the first sign of Movie 13 in two months from now. Failing that, we will learn the identity of one of the featured characters in December. Now, this timeframe leaves very little doubt that one of the Generation II legendary Pokémon is going to be a title character - anything else would be akin to ignoring the remakes' existence at their time of promotion. That would be an unprecedented move which I don't see happening - especially not in favor of future games that are still far away.

Needless to say, the promotional Pokémon (which can't be Raikou or Ho-oh due to their being obtainable by normal means) will be distributed to HeartGold and SoulSilver; there is room for the possibility that Diamond, Pearl and Platinum will be excluded based on what happened with Movie 7. I've made my view on the identity of this character known on many occasions before. Ho-oh can share the movie title with the other character, but I would say that Raikou is only eligible for an appearance like Suicune's in Movie 4.

But it wasn't a title character or even one with a notable role; from the looks of things, even Notched-ear Pichu will have a greater role than Munchlax did. A better example would be Lucario, which again, didn't obviate the need of re-showcasing Mew and holding a promotion for the GBA versions.

I always considered Legend of Thunder to be a movie. It was not divided up into three parts originally, that was just for pokemon chronicles.

Everyone considers Mewtwo Returns to be a movie, because it was released as such. It was a special just like LoT, though. It took a RIDICULOUSLY long time to dub LoT (and the quality of that dub is questionable), and that's why it doesn't get recognized for what it is. If they dedicate a new movie to Raikou, they will have to do the same with Entei and Suicune. It's only fair.

Ho-oh, however, is reasonable. I'd love to see it get a movie because it never got as much attention as any of the other Johto legendaries. It would also be reasonable to give Raikou/Entei/Suicune small roles in this movie.

On a completely different note, why does everyone seem to care so much about what the movies are advertising? Doesn't it seem to make the series lose it's appeal when everyone is sitting around bitching about " The only reason ____ was in this movie was to advertise _____ so stfu!" Ho-oh, for example, may be an 'old' pokemon, but it's still a pokemon.

How about it deserves an effing movie because people are interested in it?

I'm gonna guess Movie 13 will have a Johto Legendary, but at least 1 Gen V Baby Pokemon or so. The movie will be out in what, 2010? So a year from then, the 5th Generation games would be coming out in 2011.

Again people, these are just remakes. Not a new saga, not a new journey. They've just gotten better at advertising than when they "advertised" FR/LG.

But LoT isn't a movie. It was aired, yes AIRED, in December, rather than theatrically released in July. My opinion? They originally were going to have Suicune alone be in #4 and have Raikou complete the trio in #5, but then decided to let Suicune be a costar to Celebi and say "screw Raikou, we need to get Gen III up!"

I don't want Houou to get a movie. Houou is supposed to be a very mysterious Pokémon whose real purpose will hopefully be revealed at the end of Ash's story if that ever happens.
