●Anime『Pokemon～Search for the Rinka Berries!～』

A special anime for "Meloetta's Sparking Recital", which together with "Theatrical Edition Pocket Monsters Best Wishes Kyurem VS The Sacred Swordsmen" will be released on 7/14! Latest info about the movie too! A super-big guest appears too!

I found what seems to be an animated short recieving no coverage at all linked on a Japanese fansite.

Pokemon ~Search for the Rinka Berries!~ is apparently a completely new animation being given away on a DVD with the August issue of Ciao, a girls' manga magazine, which is released on the 3rd July.

Rinka Berries don't seem to have an English name, Rinka is the direct Japanese spelling used.

Has anyone else heard of this? Any ideas what it will be?

It seems interesting that the short doesn't use the 'Best Wishes' subtitle, or indeed even 'Pocket Monsters'; but instead just 'Pokemon'.

A Pokemon centric thing like that would make me think it will be a lot like the Mystery Dungeon episodes (and I suppose appeal more to a female audience), including having the Pokemon talking to eachother and the generic mean pokemon turns out to save the day storyline.

The only thing that I can think of, and since it is related to Meloetta, is that would this be a short that is animated version of the special Fes Mission you get when transferring Movie Meloetta into the game? Remember, this special mission requires you to search for three berries, and this short seems to involve berry searching too.
This is the only logical answer I can speculate at this point :3

Japanese magazines just do that, for some reason. Some are one month ahead (the July issue of CoroCoro Comics comes out in June) while others are two (Ciao, CoroCoro Ichiban!, etc.). I have no idea why this is.

So we'll get some kind of short movie in addition to the Keldeo Movie's Meloetta short... I wonder if there will be an ANA short too in addition to all of that, or if the ANA short was "replaced" by these for this year (does anyone here knows?)
It's a little surprising that they bothered to make a short movie that will only be released on a bonus DVD of a girls magazine... they really need to decide already if they want to appeal more to girls too or not, it's getting very confusing... the way they reduced the main cast girl in BW to a sidekick rather than a star, how one of the recent Coro Coro's cover showcased the hero+rival rather than hero+heroine and then the anime-style games trailer ignoring the heroine in the same way... all of these seems to hint they don't want to try appealing to girls as much as they did during DP or even AG... but things like this (or that case of the TCG in Japan doing a boy set and a girl set) really make me wonder...

Interesting if this means the short movies return permamently to the movies and not just for the Keldeo movie... or maybe they "moved" from ANA to that girls magazine... or will just not happen anymore or get released in random different ways every time...

This makes me wonder if this will be more "shoujo" based since it's included a girl magazine. I wouldn't mind seeing what they might do to "shoujo-fy" the cartoon for this short. Well, other than adding a load of pinks and pastel colors and showing off only small, cute Pokemon.

Only about 7 minutes so it's really a "short", not like the movie shorts that used to be a whole episode's length

It's alright...but OMG Shokotan and those two girls she's with talk through the whole freaking thing. And their "commentary" is just them pointing out what's happening on-screen.

I wish there was a way to shut them the hell up.

Looking at the stills for this makes me miss Sonansu so much. I wish he could have been as prominent in the show's later years as he is in these shorts.
Also, as much as I did like Manene...I think the rocket pokemon work better in a duo than a trio.

On another note, all the music in this short is brand new. Maybe it's music that's going to be used in "Meloetta's Dazzling Recital"?

Also, one of the new pieces of background music is This Old Man, for some reason.

I'm a little confused, is the Wobbuffet in this short supposed to be Jessie's Wobbuffet? If so, what's the deal? I checked the Bulbapedia page for it and found nothing.
