Sinnoh Dex expands to 210: Pokémon Sunday confirms expansion in Platinum version

Pokémon Sunday confirmed in its most recent episode that the Sinnoh Dex will receive 59 new Pokémon in Pocket Monsters Platinum.

I wish this had not been posted. It is very suspicious that Blue Sky (Serebii's source) is the only Japanese web site to have reported this over an entire day. Pocketmonsters.net has a summary of the episode and a few screenshots as well; there is no Platinum-related footage.

If anyone has seen the episode in question, please inform us if this finding is authentic.

It is authentic, but no big deal.

I could show you one of my own lower-resolution screenshots of the 210 in the Sinnoh dex shown in Pokémon Sunday, but I'll just show you to Sunain's before anything like "it is so small, maybe it doesn't actually say '210'" comes up:

But I don't really get what the big thing about this little information bit is supposed to be. It can't be confirmed what those 59 Pokémon will be, which would be the actual big news concerning the Sinnoh dex. They might just be more Pokémon of previous generations.

just wondering, if Girintia can now be found in the spear pillar, whats turnback cave going to be, just what its like after you catch or defeat girintia in D/P?

Why has this news about the numbers been so blown out of proportion? It's not even a big deal...

The real news is about Rotom's electricity on the CoroCoro special scans. :D

Huh? 59 new Pokemon? O.O

I doubt Game Freak would actually include 59 new Pokemon in the 3rd game of a series. They've never done that before....

There's gotta be a catch (heh, I made a pun!). XD You know, like maybe they're all alternate forms of current Pokemon or they could just be older Pokemon from Kanto/Johto/Hoenn.

Lisa... It's an official announcement. The larger Sinnoh Dex includes Sinnoh Pokemon that were usually only available in-game after getting the National Dex, such as Froslass and Giratina (which were confirmed), and I'm guessing related Pokemon, such as Snorunt and Glaile are included.

They're not new Pokémon. They're 4th Gen Pokémon that weren't in the DP Sinnoh Dex 151---Giratina, Porygon-Z, Magmortar, Electivire and Froslass are examples.

Also, I am honestly not surprised at a certain post in this thread >_>

Yes, i thought that would happen. Or else no Giratinna in the sinnoh dex.

Only problem is that, if you count all of the new evos, all of the Pokemon connected to them, and throw in Giratina...you're still only working with 51 (maybe 50 or 52 if I miscounted). 54 if you throw in Cresselia, Heatran, and Regigigas. Huh...that leaves 5 unaccounted for, unless I miscounted.

The five shadows that everyone thought was Rotom Formes?

I still prefer the old dex since some of those new evos weren't even native to Sinnoh (I guess now they are). Oh well, atleast this means a wider amount of Pokemon to choose from (and less whining about fire Pokemon), though it makes it slightly harder in terms of "seeing them all" for the regional dex.

Well this pretty much kills the Dual-Slot ability, seeing as Eletivire/Magmortar's Evos are all in the normal Sinnoh Dex now..

Hopefully this means that Electrilizers and Magmarizers are given in-game, like Dawn Stones, etc.

ok, thinking, onl the list of pokemon found only after national dex:

Magmortar, Froslass, Heatran, Regigigas, Probopass (which like magezone can be leveled up in mt coronet to obtain), Magezone, Yanmega, Mamoswine, Likiliki, Electrivire, Magmortar, Rhyreperior, Tangrowth, Porygon-Z, Dusknoir, Leafeon, Glaceon, Rotom, Phione, Manaphy, Shaymin, Arceus, Grintia, Gliscor, Darkrai, Uxie, Mespirit, Azelf, Togekiss (only 29 there if I have not missed any) maybe more baby pokemon can be found too? If say magby can be found, then magmar has to be in dex too if magmortar is to be in it.

I'll just wait and see, insead of all this guessing whats going to be in it.

You forgot the related Pokemon. It's unlikely Togekiss would be available, but Togepi and Togetic wouldn't. And Uxie, Mesprit, and and Azelf are in the Sinnohdex already, as is Manaphy. Phione, Shaymin, and the Regi trio could actually fill the missing 5 slots, but I guess we'll have to wait until later this month to see what, exactly, fills the Dex.

The full list of new DP evos not available in DP through initial play and their related Pokemon, plus a few legendaries, as far as my count goes (numbered for the sake of...easy counting, and in whatever order I think of them. Spoilered for the sake of those who don't give a crap):

54. Regigigas

^Of course they can, considering that they aren't actually new Pokémon, but old ones that are related to the 4th gen Pokémon that weren't in the Sinnohdex before.

I doubt Phione would be included since you need Ditto (who may not appear in the Platinum Sinnohdex).

Well this pretty much kills the Dual-Slot ability, seeing as Eletivire/Magmortar's Evos are all in the normal Sinnoh Dex now..

You're being silly. I doubt the decision to make two Pokémon lines available in another way "pretty much kills" the Dual-Slot ability. Considering that there are still 18 separete families that are still available via Dual-Slot.

I counted 51, too, with that much.

More Fire-types in the Sdex? Please? Flint with ACTUAL FIRE-TYPES when you battle him?

I understand that fire types are cool and all, but what on earth is with people despertely needing them this badly?

I think the only new Fire type that'll be included in the Sinnohdex is the Magmar family.

Anyway, I think they may include the Regi trio, since you need them to activate Regigigas. Nobody actually said that they were one of a kind like other legendaries.
