So at this point, how do you feel that Johto wasn't revisited in the anime?

How did you feel?

Now that the new games were 100% confirmed for Fall 2010, we can safely say with confidence there will be no second arc in DP after Sinnoh ends.

Both the new Frontier Brains and Johto as a region were not focused on in the anime. We only got Palmer because he was in the original DP games and he's Barry's father.

How did you feel that the writers advertised HGSS elements like Lyra and the Pokeathlon in Sinnoh instead, and didn't re-visit the Johto region or have a second Battle Frontier arc?

I'm pretty much over it because:

1. Kanto will probably be the only region revisited because it was Ash's home region and the FRLG was their first try at advertising a remake. So I don't expect Hoenn or Sinnoh to be revisited either when their remakes come (DP remakes...man how time will fly!)

2. BF had zero old Kanto characters and was basically Hoenn with a different name, I would expect the same of Sinjoh.

3. We still get to see some old Pokemon with the Sinnoh League. I'm a bit upset about Sceptile not getting a lot of battles, but it'll get its time one day and I'm glad the neglected ones get a chance to do something instead of the same old crop.

In all honesty, I like the fact that advertising the Gen II remakes were spent in Sinnoh rather than Johto. I like the fact that they introduced Lyra with the Johto Festival and Pokeathlon in Sinnoh, even though the episode with the Pokeathlon was lackluster, despite the fact that I find it to be one of the best things they added to the remakes. It was also nice to see a new face with more of a personality in it. That and despite the festival being a major ad for HG/SS it was pretty neat to teach Sinnoh people on what the Johto region is like.

As for the Second Battle Frontier, while it would have been nice to see Darach, Thorton, Dahlia, and Argenta in the anime and Ash fighting them and seeing what kind of personalities they have in the show, I'm not losing sleep over it because they weren't included. Besides I rather this whole saga rely on what Sinnoh has to offer than rely on another region until Gen V comes out.

I's totally indiferent to me :3U I still think that there will be a mini-arc with Frontier Brains :3 They're only 5 and writers could make a mini-BF before starting the new Gen :3 So Johto or not isn't really important xDU I think that we had enough Johto promotion in Kotone arc and in the previous episodes xDU. In my opinion is more important to make one league and one GF totally amazing before make the main characters to travel to Johto again xDU
Kanto season was short (only 82 eps :() and it was a really good idea to make the battle frontier there, but We had enough Johto region in second gen xDU

And furthermore, I was already getting bored of DP :(! 5 years have been enough xDU I want to see as soon as possible the new gen!! ^__^

Would have been neat to see the other Sinnoh Frontier Brains (as Palmer was awesome), but I've accepted that the time constraints have more-or-less shut out any possibility of them appearing in the anime. Aside from that, I'm just fine with everything staying in Sinnoh.

I have that irrational phobia of anime!Johto that tells me that if Ash goes back there, he'll never escape. Hah.

There's no severe loss. The bit with Lyra and the Pokethlon is all we got, and I'm satisfied with that. The only real loss is that an entire section of Sinnoh will not be seen in the anime, and that is the Battle Zone. I could be wrong about that, though, what if the league takes place there? Then again, that means that the league's actual location will be left out. There's no way to win. Is that a severe loss as well? Not really. Without the BF to show, and the whole thing with Pluto being minor, the Battle Zone is little more than an overgrown island.

Meh I'm not disapointed by it.
I wasn't so sure they'd revisit Johto any ways.
The only reason that idea got planted in my head was cuz of you Scott.
Any who, I'm sure they'll let Ash use some of his Johto Pokemon in the league at least.

I think long sagas like Sinnoh without a short saga is better... and they did get a lot of Johto things (and continue to do so) so we got enough HGSS stuff

I didn't really care. Johto already had its own time in the anime limelight. Might have been nice to have more of a revisit, but, honestly, I would actually rather have had a Sinnoh Battle Frontier arc than to have Ash return to a region that we've already seen. The anime, unlike the games, does not vastly improve with each generation, so there really isn't any need to go back to old stuff and make it better, or whatever. I think the Johto Festa arc was enough of a nostalgia trip for me. Not that it was particularly nostalgic, but...yeah.

Hey, we got some Johto bits here and there and a rival based on Silver. I'm fine. We've had our Johto journey. If they don't go back, then that's that. I'm fine.

I'm disapointed if this is the case that Johto will not be revisited, I hoped that the new Battle Frontier would be located in Johto in the anime. I'm surprised more than disapointed actually as that means they won't show any of the new Battle Frontier.

Considering how Kanto's revisit was simply a case of relocating Hoenn locations, I'm not losing sleep over the lack of a possible Johto revisit. The Platinum Brains not getting a guaranteed appearance sucks, but Sinnoh's been fine without them.

Besides, they could potentially pull a Wallace and have them appear in another form later on.

Johto would've been nice, I did have high hopes for another Whirl Cup for a Misty cameo, but oh well.

At the end of the day, Sinnoh was too good to be rushed, so I picked option #1.

Johto was my fav region though.

I'm utterly sick of Jotho topics. Besides, I never really expected them to go there anyway.

They didn't need to visit the actual region since there were appearences by Gen II Pokémon and Gen VI relations throughout. Lets also not forget the HG/SS mini-arc where they practically shoved the Johto games down our collective throats.

They also had no reason to visit because none of the main cast members live there. Ash, Misty, and Brock all live/d in Kanto and have family there, May and Max lived in Hoenn and Dawn grew up in Sinnoh.

Well once Black/White versions come out Johto will once again be old news and we won't have any reason to talk about it. It'll be similar to when AG started in 2002 and Johto became that older region that we just got out of. Except this time Sinnoh will be the old region, so we'll talk about that, not so much HGSS or Johto or whatever.

I'd say that the writers were planning a Johto return originally, but they ended up making Sinnoh so long that they decided to stretch it to the 5th gen time rather than make enough room for a second Johto arc.

But I can't really prove this, so...

Honestly? I can't think of any reason why Sinnoh would be shorter. They seemed to have planned out a lot of what would happen in this saga from the getgo.

Maybe if Gen V didn't come out till 2011, we probably would have had a filler arc, but since its a 2010 release they just left them in Sinnoh.

^What about Smash Bros Brawl? I'm certain that gap between the second and third badges could be explained by the delay it experienced. The writers were adamant about getting Lucario's anime debut to coencide with Brawl's release, hence there was a gap.

Now that I think about it, the Jotho arc itself led directly into Hoenn without any sort of interlude arc.

It seems that every two generations follows a set pattern.

Indigo League -> Orange Islands
Jotho League

-GB game era ends-

Hoenn League -> Battle Frontier
Sinnoh League
