Even though DP went on for the same span of AG anyway, it feels odd that Dawn is the first girl to only travel with Ash for a single region. Even odder when you realize she might never visit Pallet Town or see Delia/Tracey in person.

I guess this is the reason it felt like May was around longer than she was, because when you have two separate arcs that "restart" and have a Pallet Town visit, it feels like one huge adventure ended and another began. That and two Contests arcs felt like we saw a continuation of a previous storyline.

Dawn's only around for a single region, so we'll see no follow-up of a second contest arc, she'll never beat Zoey on-screen, and it feels like she was just a one-region affair. I wonder if Dawn will visit Pallet Town, but for some reason I see her departing from Ash/Brock in Sinnoh instead.

Makes me wonder if every gen will be like this now, with the girl only sticking for 1 region.

Yep. We haven't had a single region travel companion though since Tracey. Everyone else was in at least two journies.

You know that you can't be sure of that, no matter if it is rushed right at the end of DP.

Possibly, but I'd rather it not happen if its just a rushed short thing. It would downplay the loss.

*Mister Urban impression* That's because Dawn isn't leaving. She is way prettier than Iris and like you said, there's so much left unresolved. They would never separate Ash and Dawn because they're both stars of the show. *end impression*

I'm going to have mental issues from doing that now. It doesn't matter that Dawn was only given one region. There's still time to resolve some things, but I don't think the rivalry with Zoey is going to be one of them. I'm really thinking Dawn was never meant to beat Zoey, but that she got so doggone close should be good enough. I have no way of knowing what kind of end they have planned for Dawn, and it will be a long time before we even get to DP's resolution. Dawn's journey still played out well, and I will be satisfied whatever they choose to do. (Well, I still wonder about Buneary and Pikachu, but I'm not even sure on that)

I don't particularly want it to happen either but there's no point in saying something with that much certainty.

Dawn was in it for the same length as May, so there's no difference. It's just that Sinnoh was more padded out than Hoenn.

Do we really care? Well I don't. Sinnoh was way too long to give Dawn next arc.

I agree with that. Sinnoh went on forever, she hasn't been gipped really because she's still had a fair amount of time on the show, it's just that the Sinnoh adventures soaked it all up >.>

Does it matter?
The Sinnoh arc is just that much longer than either Hoenn and the Kanto Battle Frontier arcs.
Remember, we had 80 episodes of gym hiatuses.

ok...

it doesn't seem that big of a deal to me. we've seen what d/p did with some past characters (may, wallace), as well as characters that generally NEVER appear in the animé (the elite four, for example). b/w will bring as much *twists* and *dramatic events*. dawn will definitely make a cameo appearance. she might also join the team for a while... who knows. the writers always come up with surprising things.

At least she lasted a long time. I'm sad she is leaving, but Sinnoh has been on a long time. Another region, and even more fans would be complaining that she is still here.

And to be fair, she managed to almost acheive her goal of being a Top Coordinator. Only barely managing to lose the final round by a tiny margin. That's probably the furthest that any main character has ever gotten.

How far could she go aside from actually winning?

I really don't see the point if she doesn't at least visit Pallet in the final episode or two. The writers must know a lot of people would want to see that.

Meh It was just as long, so I see no problem.
I don't know if they'll do it with the next girl.
Seems to me they can do whatever they want with the next one, since she's an original anime character, not a Generation Five one.

-And despite this, she still manage to get the closest to her goal than any other main character.

Speaking of which they still haven't defined what the hell a Pokemon master is. That's probably the vaguest goal out of all the main characters. Becoming a Water Pokemon master, and great Breeder, and a Top Coordinator are all pretty obvious.

^Brilliant way to keep Ash on the show forever :p

Oh, and about this thread, Dawn may be the only one so far, but at the end of BW she might not be anymore.
