This is pretty odd. The DP saga had two clip shows (which weren't dubbed), but were counted as part of the episode count. If you remove those which aren't real episodes, DP only really had 189 episodes.

AG had one clip show bringing it up to 192 episodes, but without it AG still had 191 individual episodes.

So then Dawn didn't get as many eps as May did after all. May outlasted Dawn by 2 episodes, moreso if you count her DP appearance. Not that it really matters as Dawn still got the most screentime of any female companion, but its still kinda odd.

Maybe if we didn't have all those breaks, DP wouldn't end at 2 episodes shorter than AG.

Didn't AG also start in November, whereas DP started back in September, right? I always though DP was going to go up to at least 195 episodes because of that, but all the breaks throughout these 4 years screwed it over.

Quality over Quantity is all I'll say. For appearing in two episode less than may and 80 something episode less than Misty, Dawn got the more focus out of the three girls...

You make a lot of threads about such trivia, maybe you should make a single thread titled "Trivia about the pokemon anime by glisor'd" or something like that.

So true. Or look at Brock who has literally been in almost the shows entire run, but got focused on in maybed 20% of those total episodes.

At least she's been in more eps than Max, and way more than Tracey. Is the time with each set of new characters getting shorter each time? It could be coincidence. We'll just have to see. Either way, even though Dawn is not one of the longest lasting characters, she is still memorable in her own way.

Oddly enough Max was in it almost the same as Dawn. Max was introduced in AG3, so subtract two DP eps, and Dawn and Max have the same episode count.

Oh yes, and 620 episodes is literally the same amount as 660 episodes. Magic. And the last episode based on Brock was 100 episodes ago (Doc Brock), with another one coming soon, so he has even less. I'd say 5%.

If you really want a "reason", the "let's air last year's movie on TV to commemmorate the new one" features were part of Shuukan Pokemon Housoukyoku while that show was on, and thus neither ate Pokemon's timeslot nor any timeslots of other shows that would make up for it with a double episode eating another Pokemon timeslot.

DP never had any real "breaks", there were just a ton of weeks were Naruto and Pokemon did double episodes eating the other show's time slot. That didn't affect the episode total.

Really? I always thought the AG movies made the show take a break when they aired too.

Anyway, I remember back in 2006 everyone thought Dawn would last much longer in the series than May did, it really seems everyone was wrong. I guess we all expected a filler arc after DP before BW was announced.

Dawn was in it basically the same time as May, just two episodes more. Really no biggy. Also, we all expected a Johto filler arc before Black and White, but it never happened. Though it could only happen if the Veilstone and Sunyshore droughts were shortened.

Most of us thought DP would end on September 23rd, not the 9th.

I always thought DP would end somewhere around 195 episodes.

Even though we've known that Black and White have been confirmed to come out on September 18 for several months now?

And point is?Ok,Dawn will get two episodes less than May did,this doesnt mean much to be honest.

She still received a good run,having the biggest amount of screentime out of all females so far getting good development.Another thing being worth to point out is how out of all characters she came closest toward achievement of her goal coming all the way to finals of GF almost winning it(not counting Tracey who was the only one so far who achieved its goal).

However getting more focus doesnt mean being better.While Misty or May did get less screentime,i enjoyed more in them than i did with Dawn.

Filler arc would have been a good way to go,but considering how much writers stretched Sinnoh on purpose with all this arcs,and episodes which could have been passed didnt left enough time to do another transition mini saga like OI or Battle Frontier before new games come out.

By "outlast," you mean on the main cast, right? Because May did have the five episode guest star appearance during the Wallace Cup.

In my opinion, it's quality over quantity.

May has been in more episodes than Dawn, yes, but the same applied for Misty back in the original series. Misty had drastically less focus than either of the two other girls, but May didn't have as much focus to her coordinating career as Dawn did. On-screen, we haven't seen May practice as much in contests or even combinations.

So, yeah, I think that overall Dawn had more screentime (focused on herself) than May did. May have been in more episodes, but most of which she was in a background role and hardly contributed to the effort.
