So how will the rest of Sinnoh be paced?

We now know the gang is headed to the Grand Festival before they return to Sunyshore for Ash to get his 8th badge.

That means after the last badge, the league will probably come right after. That means the entire last stretch of Sinnoh will be heavily Ash focused since Dawn's story will be over.

I'm really curious as to why they wrapped up Dawn's arc so early on while the last 20-30 eps of Sinnoh will all be about Ash. They never did this with May back when AG was airing, with her the GF was always being saved for the tail-end of the region right before Ash's league or final Brandon battle.

Do you think its because the writers are planning something big for Ash, and want Dawn's story finished for the time being? Meaning 8th Gym + Sinnoh League + Possible Elite 4 all back to back?

I assume the series won't be much longer.
If they have an Elite 4 I'll be shocked.
I just don't think Ash is ready yet to fight Elite 4.
With the Grand Festival being the first one to come to a close.
All we have to deal with is the league. It will probaly be a lot longer than the Grand Festival is my speculation.
Dawn will sadly be shoved in the back for that time being.
Who knows maybe they are doing this to get rid of her character. It is a little odd.

Heh, doesn't surprise me if he does challenge the Elite 4. If he could basically beat the Frontier Brains (who were implied to be around the Elite 4 level), I think he could stand a chance now. He'll need to use his reserves, though.

Well that's true.
With some of Ash old Pokemon in the new opeaning, guess its possible.
Maybe they are saving Ash old Pokemon for Elite 4.

This just in. Dawn isn't May.

No I think it means we'll see the Grand Festival before the last gym. Jumping to conclusions much ?

Which is a big deal, because it seems like they're getting Dawn's goal done early so they can do some heavy Ash focus.

I'm sure Dawn will get a few more eps she stars in with her rivals and everything, but overall it feels like the writers are going to put her on the sidelines while the last batch of DP focuses heavily on Ash.

Why would they wrap up the Contest arc almost 20-30 eps before DP ends? That means Ash's league is either going to be longer than we expect or the writers have something else planned after it ends if they can fit it in before Gen V.

I... have to agree with Scott85 on this one, even though I view him as an enemy for what he did to us.

Even if Dawn isn't May, don't you find it a bit odd that they are doing the Grand Festival this early? If they have a long range of training episodes/fillers between Volkner and the League (and the League being exactly the same as before), then there really isn't a point in trying to get her to compete in the GF before Volkner's Gym Battle.

It's pretty stupid to think this has to have a special meaning
It was only a stupid fan made rule that a GF must happen just before the League
Dawn can still get a lot of screen time in the episodes between events, it's pretty obvious she'll meet her rivals again after the GF and get some episodes about wondering what to do next
Also, as I said before, even when the GF is done they can still have an unofficial Contest or random Contest Battle
It's also possible to simply have Dawn focused episodes which aren't related at all to Contests

Anyway... about that Misty thread that got locked... I'll post about it here since it was locked before I could do it there
I hope it's real and I think it's even logical... think about it - 1.4 is the Pokémon anime's 13 anniversary - makes sense to showcase Misty in the episode that airs this day (remember how in 2007 when we got the March/April episodes they had this specials with quiz and stuff that Misty narrated? they sure associate Misty with the anime's anniversary)

I also have to say I wrote before that it seems like the writers are trying to showcase all the gen 4 Poké in the DP series, even if they're legendaries who got movies all to themselves
Other than the blue form of Gastrodon and the other 2 Burmy forms (and Kricketot if we won't count its background appearances) all the new Poké did appear in regular episodes of DP except for these: Gallade (will probably star in GF with Zoey), Arceus, Giratina (unless we count a few seconds cameo of one of its forms where they didn't even say its name) and Manaphy
So I won't be surprised at all if they will do a Manaphy episode... and why not associate it with Misty? it makes sense to me

So... we still can't know if the two new titles are real or not but remember they make sense because of this:
- 1.4 is the anime's anniversary so it makes sense to showcase Misty and her Togetic
- April is the month Dawn is already supposed to have Togekiss in... so it makes sense to give it to her on the first ep of the month
- Most of us already assumed that Dawn will get it as a Togetic and have a quick evo... the scans hint at it being this way, with the Togetic being Misty's one

Of course, it can still be a fake and the one who did this could also know about the things I said and purposely did it this way to make it seem real
But I'm shocked no one in that locked thread even thought about saying anything about 1.4 being the anime's anniversary...

Hmm, well you frequently bring up the possibility of an E4 arc with Ash but why not have the same thing with Dawn? She might *gasp* win the Grand Festival (which is even more likely if she's getting shafted for Gen V girl) and be invited to compete at the Ribbon Syndicate where she has an epic contest battle against her mother, who is probably in charge.

No, of course that won't happen - but with the general unpredictability of DP so far, something as unlikely as that could happen.

So as for the pace for the rest of Sinnoh/DP, it will probably be around 200 episodes if it's going to coincide with the "New RPG game(s)" being released in October. So, GF from about 173-177, back to Sunyshore by 180. Gym battle 181 - couple of filler/training, league 184-190. That gives about 10 episodes for stuff to happen/return to Pallet/new region introduction. Anything could happen then - even if Ash doesn't battle the E4, the writers probably won't deny us a battle with Cynthia.

Yeah, I did think about the possibility of an Elite Four like thing for Contests
Also, in case they do something like that I'm sure they'll say it's for the "top X" of the GF and not the winner so Dawn will be able to lose and still do it
I wonder who would be in an "E4" of Contests... I can see Johanna and Fantina but who else? I guess Juan and Wallace could get in too but I'm trying to think about Sinnoh exclusive characters...
Anyway, after Ash's last battle with Flint - I won't be surprised if Ash lose the League (but still beat Paul of course and get at least top 4) and there's no E4 challenge at all... I hope we'll still get at least a battle with Cynthia somehow...

I know the GF doesn't have to happen just before the league, but having it happen before the Volkner rematch is still unusual. They could have easily done it around or even shortly after the Volkner gym battle, and then wait a 30 or so more episodes before the League, but instead did it this way.

That's a pretty good point. The Anime DID start on April Fools Day in Japan (I wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese Kids thought it was a joke when they first heard that it was going to be airing on that day.) However, I will comment that regardless of it being the 13th Anniversary or not, and regardless of what we think about Misty, we still need to take the information with a grain of salt (I once accessed a link that had a report stating that Japan played an april fools day joke in regards to a release of of a new game in the Dragon Warrior series. In fact, the link was supplied from this forum.).

Sunyshore in July, rest of Sinnoh in August/September. Fits perfectly to be honest.

Probably like how it paced before this. Maybe GF before gym, but who knows? Besides, which point exactly our heroes heading in Mai and Ranger episodes?

Not really. A four-month wait for the return to Sunyshore Gym would be ridiculous when there is a distinct likelihood that the new games will be released in September. The Grand Festival could definitely be over by early May, and we've seen the route between Sunyshore and Lake Valor more than enough (this marks the third time).

Ash can spend time training with his current team and some of his reserves in May and June (on the Pokémon League island), and then the League can start immediately after the movie premiere. I don't think that there will be time for an Elite Four arc, but a match against Cynthia (regardless of Ash's position in the League) is a possibility.

Sunyshore Gym will probably be in May, right after the GF. The league probably won't start till after Movie 13 though.

They can still get all the preparations for the League out of the way by July. By that I am referring to the build-up with the four rivals and the return of the reserves. In fact, I would really like it if the reserves were especially focused on.

My guess is that Crown City is situated on the same island as the Pokémon League.

The league itself has lasted about 7 eps in its previous incarnations. May's Grand Festivals lasted for 3 eps each, but she only had two recurring rivals, along with one rival designed specifically for each GF (and eventually won it). Dawn has five, if the opening is to be believed and Nando and Ursula are coming back. I don't think they can fit that into three eps, but the amount of rivals Ash has does not affect the length of the league. (Then again, the league always has a lot of COTDs, so it matters little how many rivals he has)

I'll do it by month:

April: Dawn's Togekiss, Grand Festival eps

May: Sunyshore Gym eps. Bertha might get a solo ep around here.

June: Preparation for the leagues, an ep dedicated to Ash/Paul/Barry and another for Dawn/Zoey/Kenny....the coordinators discuss what they'll do next.

July: Sinnoh league begins

August: Sinnoh league is still going

September: Elite 4 eps

October: Ash Vs. Cynthia, group splits up, goodbye episodes

November: New game is released

Why stop there?!

December: Ash heads to land, gets new Pokemon.

January: New Coordinator joins cast. Brock explodes.

February: New Pokemon team is revealed, all of them are made of cheese.

March: James starts up his career in Pokemon manure-shoveling.

April: Misty rejoins the cast. But it's an April Fools joke.

Year 2020: Ash loses his 6th League. He starts over in a new land, gets new Pokemon.

The 5th generation I couldn't care less about at this point. As if we really need to see Ash go on his billionth journey with girl #4.
