Introductory post. woo
I'm Dane. uh... never was any good at these
I've been playing Pokemon for 11 years now, got Red version and a Gameboy Color on my 5th birthday. I think my starter was a Squirtle, but I never have a consistent choice for the first starters. They're all tied in my book as far as preference goes. I'm not one of those 151 purists or whatever, but lately I have been going through a huge nostalgia blast for the first gen, and as far as the Pokemon themselves go, my preferences do go in order, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. I'm still totally aware of all of them though, and I'm anticipating the 5th.
I like competitive battling, but I've been lost recently in the current generation, given how much overhauling Smogon has done, and how it's becoming a bit too stagnant and unstable at the same time - new movesets like ScarfTar and niche sets becoming way popular, but never really changing the top 20 or so. One of my big interests is 1st and 2nd gen competitive, because they're entirely different worlds.
I do actually dig on non srs bidnit matters of Pokemon, though. I have been known to play favorites, and actually care for the critters. I am insanely inconsistent with a "favorite Pokemon" title. Pokemon that have held the title, as far as I can remember: Poliwhirl (current, due to nostalgia wave), Magneton, Cloyster, Hypno, Weezing, Gyarados, Aipom, Heracross, Sneasel (latter two from like 3rd grade,) Ludicolo, Breloom, Medicham, Duskull, Ambipom... I like a bunch of Pokemon. I go through burst of weeklong obsessions with a lot.
I used to role play, haha, probably won't do that anymore.
My biggest passion in life is music. It affects me in profound ways, and is probably one of the few true loves of my life, and as fundamentally realistic that I am, I regard some musical experiences as spiritual experience. I love it that much. I listen to a lot of stuff from a lot of genres, and love so much of it, yet I also probably hate your favorite band. Funny how that works. 60's rock, hip-hop, jazz, shoegaze, mississippi delta blues, cowpunk, post-modern pop, grunge, electronic, folk, rock 'n roll? Music, man. Gotta love it. I play guitar, want to learn piano, and have aspirations of being a songwriter myself. We'll see how that goes.
I'm also into acting. I'm officially the president of my school's drama club (that is actually a really respectable program, especially given that our school has really only been in the game for 3 years) and I've done both straight plays and musicals. Another passion of mine. Also, improvisational comedy. We're working on that. We had a great improv team this year, but a bunch of seniors are leaving, and one of our aces is moving away. Regardless, I think this coming year will only improve. Knock on wood.
tl;dr, i'm dane what's up
