So next will we get an R/S/E remake?

So if the GS remake actually happens, and it includes Kanto, then all 3 regions will be on DS games. Kanto/Johto on the GS remake and Sinnoh on the DS.

Please don't tell me they're going to make an RSE remake next just so all the regions are on the same platform. -_-

No only an idiot with too much time on their hands like yourself would think of such pathetic things.

Its true its a stupid idea, which is why I wouldn't put it past GameFreak because they know some people would buy it anyway.

R/S/E doesn't really NEED anything to upgrade. It's not outdated like G/S/C or R/B/Y were.

An R/S/E remake would just be silly. Heck, I still think a G/S/C remake isn't needed (since we're already able to get every Pokémon from those sets of games anyway. They just require alot more "effort".)

The only reason why people clamour for a GSC remake is to somehow "re-live" the apparent "awesomeness" that Jotho somehow provided. Even though it could have been even better if they didn't decide to stick a butchered Kanto in there.

In order to justify a remake of anything. The remake must add something substantal to gameplay. In FR/LG's case, it's opening up more then 100 Pokémon families that were not included in the Ruby and Sapphire games.

I think an RSE remake is doable.

Lately remakes have been coming out between gens (like FRLG and if the rumors are right, GSC.) Which would logically put RSE between gens V and VI.

It's likely Gen V will be on whatever the DS's successor is, so who knows how gameplay/graphics for Pokemon will have changed by then.

RBY/GSC were really in need to be remade
While RSE/DPt are fine the way they are
So I don't say it's impossible but it's not needed like RBY/GSC were

Game Freak/Nintendo doesn't care if they're needed.

If they can get money, they'll make it. And we know Pikachu shits money.

Wait, what? You can still move pokemon between gen 3 to gen 4. Why would they make it?

I am one who, even though says its not needed, its a good idea. Hoenn region was one of my favourite regions even though R/S sucked basically.

G/S/C is the needed redo. R/B/G/Y is not so needed as we have FR/LG, but a FR/LG remake would be good, or at least incorperate all the features of FR/LG Kanto/Sevii into G/S/C and give Kanto a purpose in it and make the game long and it could be done on a DS

*Shot*

But what would they gain from it? Whom would buy it when theres a cheaper version that STILL works?

It's hard to find the original GBA games in stores, for one.

Not to mention if RSE remakes are made, they'd come out following the GSC ones (which are in the earliest stages of production at this point if at all.)

If RS are remade, it probably will be 2-3 years before we hear of it. In which case 1. the original GBA games will be near impossible to find 2. The DS's successor may be available and probably won't be GBA compatible (if any backwards compatibility it'd be DS- the removal of the GBA slot from DSi I think sets this precedent) and 3. a whole new audience for the games will have started playing them (which is one of the reasons FRLG was made). They'll be new to them.

True, True, all Good reasons for a remake, but not currently. there are not enough fans out there that would buy a remake of an ALREADY made game. If the next gen of Nintendo portable console has no GBA slot, then fine. As for lack of availability, unless youve checked EVERY thats not a fact, as up here they are common in stores.

Id agree, cost me £20 for a legit FR game and that was hard to find. There is only one store here I know that does the GBA games, and rarely does it have pokemon ones and they are all preowned first

If they do remake RS, it'll be living proof of how GameFreak is just falling back on their comfortable revival of past glories. Not really the best for this, or any franchise. FR/LG was the only one with any justification, and maybe this apparently probable GS remake will also signify making GS right, as it should have been, and with the expected extras, which would make it completely worth it.

However, while RS were incomplete games, Emerald wasn't. And the games are still playable. Do they really have to make every Generation over and over again so they're on par with current ones? Wow... I don't think any other franchise besides Final Fantasy does this, and it's just been with FF3 (Much-needed for any country not named Japan) and FF4 (A game this good deserves all remakes it can get anyway). They just ported the original FF4, 5 and 6 in the GBA too, as well as Chrono Trigger in the DS. They also hog to past glories, but those that are actually worth it. Games that no generation can go without playing, for they're truly some of the best classics ever made. Same goes with New Super Mario Bros. which was a spiritual remake of the original Mario Bros. game, and Metroid Zero Mission, for NES's Metroid. Now, Metroid 2 is a game that every Metroid fan would love seeing remade, since it's pretty bleh in its original form (Not to mention hard as all hell to get outside of ROMs), and it's yet to happen. I doubt it will ever be remade, even. You don't see everything else of said franchises being remade once they become "Old School".

The compatibility is no issue anymore. the reason behind the incompatibility between RBY/GSC and RSE was an integral change in the game's very coding. With the new coding since 3rd Gen, there's space for 4095 Pokémon. Enough for an entire lifetime, at the rate they're going (Unless they start adding 500+/- new Pokémon starting with 5th Gen, but I highly doubt it). That's no excuse anymore.

No. system compatibility isn't an issue either. The Nintendo Portables make a point of all being compatible with their previous iteration. You could play Game Boy games on Game Boy Color. You could play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on the Game Boy Advance. You can play Game Boy Advance games on the DS. Whatever comes after the DS (Probably DSi as of now) will be able to play DS games, and as such, we'll be able to get our Pokémon from 4th Gen games. I don't think 5th Gen will come around for the DSi. It'll most likely come for the successor of the DS, if any. The industry is changing too much to be able to tell anything will happen. The way Nintendo went with the Wii is an even clearer indicator of this.

Seriously... it'll be very sad if GameFreak resorts to this trend. I can understand, even justify, FR/LG, and even GS, but RSE... even if these won't be playable in the future consoles, you don't need to have every game of any franchise available anytime. Better graphics and crap isn't a need either. The mythos in the Pokémon world will just get more and more convoluted if this keeps on going as well. Really, once they resort to that trend, if ever, it's the time I'll lose all respect for GameFreak. They're done in already with their cheap gameplay stunts which force you to buy the 3rd version. This'll just prove their lack of interest on creating actually new ideas and stuff to enrich their world, just going back to revive old glories, and tie loose ends that never existed.

This also speaks poorly of the franchise's fans. The first main Final Fantasy game I played was Final Fantasy 7. Upon enjoying it, I decided to check out previous games on my own. Yes, I got the ports in the PSX (The system I had back then), but if I had to get their SNES or even NES versions, I would have without hesitation. A ROM would be my last resort. I would've even gotten the system. I'm dead serious. A true fan would do this and more to find out more about this game they really liked, and see how it was back in the days. Pretty sad the new generation can only enjoy games if they're pristine new, gorgeous-looking and right off the shelf...

I do agree, remaking GS does set that iffy precedent... but really, come now. Compare RS's graphics, sound, and features to GS or RB. Really all dippit did was make the world 3D and make the sprites 80x80 rather than 64x64, and made a split between physical and special moves. Aside from the new Pokémon (which don't get featured in remakes at all) what'd it bring?

RB had shitty graphics, even for the Game Boy, and FRLG made that better. GS actually had so much to do with Kanto in it likely to make it look less like a piece of shit region, by improving it vastly. I mean, what good's having old Pokémon with kickass sprites if you never see them in the game?

GS, though it improved so much on RB, was just... not enough. The Game Boy as it was held it back. GBA put it up there, though, which is where RSE was the best. FRLG was just a way to have Kanto where we could say "Oh, look, now the crappy Gen I region doesn't look like crap anymore."

Remember at the same time that GS itself set a "precedent" that you'd be able to go back to the old regions in later games. RS said "screw that" and kept us moving forward. No Kanto OR Johto there, and neither of them OR Hoenn in Sinnoh. What's to say that this so-called precedent that remaking GS would set isn't gonna apply?

Anyway, my opinion is, sure, GF could make one. Then they don't have to come up with something new and satiate the fans while working on Gen VI. Let me remind you that for Gen I, there was 1996, then 1998, and the wait was until 1999 for GS. The US got the games damn quick compared to Japan. Then we look at Gen II, and you can see how Johto took forever. 1999 and 2000 was GS and C, with RS not coming until 2002! Three years is a long time to wait, especially with only one game between them, and filler episodes up the wazoo. That's where Gen III succeeded. Sure it was from '03 to '06 to get DP, but in that time there was not only Emerald in 2004, but FRLG as well, and not to mention all the side games there were to keep us occupied, and the fillers weren't as plentiful because we weren't just on a badge quest for those three years.

Will they, though? The side games are popular, so they can use them to keep us occupied if they need to. People have expressed a want of the GS remakes since FRLG and Game Freak knows it; there's a reason why "Johto" appears in the game data. They likely know that these same people don't support RS remakes as much. Maybe by then they'd have an idea for an area that connects to Hoenn to redo it slightly, which I'd support fully rather than an all-out RS remake, but only because it was fine as it was, and can compare to later games (except for missing the animations). GS and RB, though, are incomparable to (and incompatible with) the later games, and so needed remakes to be all they were meant to be.

Plus I like Johto. Gimme the GSDS!

Something else worth noting: RSE aren't playable on the DSi.

If the GS remake still includes Kanto, you can technically say you can play through Kanto, Johto and Sinnoh all on DS games and on the DSi. Sure, the Kanto in GS is drastically different than the old one, but its still there.

Hoenn will be the only region where you won't be able to play it on the DSi, since old DS's are likely to be phased out.

I don't expect a remake this gen obviously, but I wouldn't say never when we're in Gen 5 or beyond. Hell, one of the few reasons GS is being remade is because of "nostalgia" for the kids who grew up with it. What about the kids who grew up with R/S and have nostalgia for the 3rd generation, and years down the road we get to its anniversary as well?

Maybe they'll do a DS game which contains Hoenn, Johto and Kanto, with 24 badges. I'd buy it.

GAME FREAK ARE YOU LISTENING?

Though that'd be HUUUUUGE... I'm wondering if they could fit all three regions onto one DS cart.

I suppose if Konami could fit 2 GBA games onto one cart with the Castlevania Double Pack, nothing's impossible...
