So... Saw IV... (may contain spoilers, eventually)

Yes, I know that there isn't much hype for this and fourth sequels usually suck and that Saw III was shit, but is anyone else actually looking forward to this movie in October?

As a matter of fact when I saw the trailer for it in the theater I heard people booing. Oh well.

As much as I disliked the third, I somewhat have high hopes for this one. Having kept up with the updates on bloody-disgusting.com and IMDB, there are already several things I know, as well as some of the critic reviews.

-There actually IS a twist unlike in the last one, and they seem to think it'll change something about the whole trilogy...
-Rigg (the black SWAT guy) will be the main character.
-Loose ends will be tied up.

Well, a least 3 was better than 2. Christ! I mean my friends all loved number 3, but I just thought all the "bad" stuff (blood, violence, the C-word bomb) was all tacked on in an attempt to reach out to the mass demographic. A couple of the traps were actually ingeniously twisted, but unfortunately most of them (such as the pig one) were just sily.

As long as IV improves on these things, it should be fine. I think people liked the first one because it was the first time that a movie of that type had been hyped-up like thatand actually lived up to it as opposed obviously to the Cube movies.) It had heaps of twists wrapped up most of the loose ends while still keeping enough open for a sequel.

Number II was a bit of a dud, simply because the twists that were supposed to be huge deals, turned out to be nothing more than incidental. Funnily enough, the thing I found most intriguing was the clue about the safe combination (the numbers and their order determined by their colour, pretty genius.)

I just hope it's not not as over-hyped as numbers 2 & 3 were. If they handle it with care, giving hype it can live up to, it might just make it.
