So the head Engineer was worried about his reputation

Had to get the bridge finished on time rather than correctly otherwise it would be bad for his reputation. How would his reputation have looked if somebody was crossing the bruidge that was badly made, and it ended up colapsing and they were seriously injured or even killed? Sure that finishing building a bridge a bit late would be much worse for his reputation than that happening.
 
And this wasn't posted in the discussion thread for that episode because...?
