So uh, Contests Confirmed?

If Contests are around then it's safe to say that Gyms will also be around. But I wonder what Alola will implement for contests.

The only thing I see is a page related to hyper training... Which I assume is somehow related to super training, and building EVs.

Did I miss something?

Not gonna open that can of worms in here too much, cause I really want to discuss Contests, but yeah, if you have the biggest side quest in the series which has always been seen as the gyms parallel you can't really have one without the other imo.

True true. I might have jumped the gun with this thread though, as it's back to XY's two buttons and it's the same as the ribbon button there. Whoops.

Yes you absolutely can, you just need to replace the Gyms with something else. It really is as simple as doing just that. So to claim that it's "safe to say" is not accurate. Suggestive? Sure, even though I would still argue that it's a vague sort of suggestion.
 
Assuming it's the 'paper' + ribbon... How does that confirm Contests? It was in X/Y as well.

I'd check OR/AS, but I don't have my 3DS with me.
 
I got so excited with the title of this thread. Admittedly, I'd want them to bring back Contests so that the new female lead in the next anime series can be a Coordinator more than anything game related, so I'd be perfectly fine with just bringing back OR/AS style of Contests. Something different could be fine too, but I just want some kind of sidequest goal that could be easily used as a battle active goal for the next female lead.
 
I'd really rather they didn't bring back contests. They're nice and all, but I'd really prefer something new.

And like others have said, the button is the same as what was in XY, so nothing's confirmed at this point.
 
I don't see why ribbons automatically confirms Contests. You have the Hall of Fame, Effort, Alert, Shock, Downcast, Careless, Relaxed, Snooze, Smile, Gorgeous, Royal, Gorgeous Royal, Footprint, Best Friends, Training and multiple older ribbons which can be transferred over.

So I think that the ribbons are just always there due being obtainable in most games so far.
 
I think we are get some sort of Alola version of contest or whatever instead of inheriting an older one.
 
Hey, as long as it's something interesting for pokemon to do besides fight each other, I'm all for it! I love contests, pokeathlon, and anything like that. Makes it so I can use a pokemon I wouldn't necessarily use for battling, but still love to pieces.
