Someone has probably posted a thread like this before, but seriously, I want to know what you guys think the inside of a pokeball is like.

Horrible. Complete and utter nightmare, for the reason that Pokémon are still aware of what's going on outside of their balls. Some of the Pokémon, like James's Carnivine, were locked up for years on end. And to be confined like that for long periods of time whilst traveling with a trainer? Blergh.

Pokemon Liberation anyone? XDD

That, and the previous episode of Flocessy Ranch, we saw Dragonite sitting inside the Pokeball grumbling. So according to the anime, the pokeball itself is just an empty sphere with nothing to do but sit and relax.

Though I'd rather prefer the pokeball to have furniture and stuff for my pokemons to relax better. They could really use a bed XDD

according to Bulbapedia, Pokemon are converted into plasma inside a Pokeball, but I certainly wouldn't want to be this
According to the anime, pokemon are shrunken and fitted inside a Pokeball, like the previously mentioned Dragonite example.
Different varieties of Pokeballs might be different though, like luxury balls being "more comfortable" and heal balls containing medicine.

I like to think there's something like a miniature environment in there. Not awfully big, but enough for them to feel comfortable. At least, I hope that's the case.

In some of the earlier episodes you can see the mirrors inside the pokeball when it opened. My friend thought it was hyperspace in a pokeball so everything inside it is bigger than the outside of the pokeball. For that I thought of regular pokeballs as a regular house and a luxury ball as a mansion.

Maybe they're pure energy with the ability to be aware of what's happening outside (mostly by hearing and not seeing). The Poke Ball shrinks as a locking mechanism and when unshrunk, they can release themselves when called on.

There is a pic series to this effect, supposedly for every pokeball type there is, but I never made sure.

Inside the Pokeball, a Pokemon can choose:

1) To sleep until it pops out, with no consience of what its Trainer said or how much time has passed.
2) To sleep until it pops out, with consience of what its Trainer said or how much time has passed.
3) To just sit in and relax, think, or anything else
4) To allow communication with a Trainer's other five Pokemon, only if both sides want it to happen (chatting).

That's how I see it.

The best way I can justify it is if an environment the pokemon finds favorable is generated inside the pokeball, and it is sort of like a pocket dimension of infinite proportions, or at least the illusion of space is created. (you're actually not moving, but everything around you is) Otherwise, I cannot condone the use of pokeballs at all, not even to keep them in a sort of stasis, which there is evidence to suggest this isn't true. True, it wouldn't affect anything if it was true, except for the matter of disorientation. That is if you are aware you lost time. Even without that, you would still be aware of being displaced. Then again, by the same token, it sort of can't be justified suddenly transporting a sentient being to a pocket dimension even if it is a comfortable one. I will not deny the convenience of the pokeball, though, but it seems to be that doing it the old fashioned way is more favorable.

The anime shows a beam of light every time they are called back that looks like they are being turned it data. I think it's like going into oblivion. Like a nothingness. Which sounds terrible to me.

Perhaps it teleports pokemon to a secret world beyond our imagination lol well, it's either that or a not scary basement

I believe its a pocket dimension that transforms into the pokemon's natural habitat when they are returned

I've always thought that inside the Poke Ball was a place where somehow the Pokemon inside enjoyed itself. Furniture, food, sort of like a world conjured up in the capsule. I don't really like to think of it as an empty sphere. I think people would have common sense to give their Pokemon room in the small space there is.

I imagined them being in stasis but their minds end up in a virtual reality simulation like Mystery Dungeon world.

I believe in an interview, Junichi Masuda somewhat gave a description of what's inside a Pokeball, though it's vague so it doesn't leave much answers.

Interviewer: What exactly happens inside of a Pokéball? Is there a home in there? Is there food in there? And can humans go in a Pokéball?

Masuda: It sure would be interesting if Pokéballs existed in real life, and we haven’t imagined that. But, in terms of what’s inside of the Pokéball, it’s a space that’s incredibly comfortable for Pokémon. So comfortable, that they want to enter the Pokéball without any sort of outside encouragement. What’s actually in there is something we would like for people to sort of imagine on their own. In terms of whether humans can enter the Pokéball or not, it’s called a Pokéball, so probably not. I think it’s just for Pokémon.

His answer is not really descriptive and rather vague , but I've always thought it's like that in a Poke Ball It's a space designed to fit a Pokemon's every nature and comfort. They can sit there and relax until their trainer calls on them or recover from a battle. I like to image it's an environment designed to fit to their original habitat along with some other comforts. As a kid, I imagined it be like a little home with a couch, tv computer and bed and some of the same stuff human have to entertain us.

Though I also imagine it being like what it's like in the anime, and empty ball of energy full of nothingness. Though that just seems pretty boring to me.

I always imagined that the inside of a PokeBall would be almost exactly like Dreamworld. After all, they raise a happiness point every 500 or so steps, so that could mean that they're having fun. ^^ Still, they could also be just floating in a void, resting.

i like to think it is really huge on the inside like the Tardis giving the pokemon inside enough space to live comfortably.
