Since the Don Tournament, Bel, Shooty and Kenyan have all made appearances or we know will appear. However they are not the only rivals from that tournament. When do you think Carbernet or Langley will make another appearance and for what? Do you think they'll make another appearance at all? Is the dub season title of Rival Destinies enough evidence to suggest that they'll reappear?

I think we will see Georgia fairly soon - we're getting close to Opelucid City and by extension (though it hasn't been made 100% clear) the village of Dragons would be fairly close to there as well. Seeing her once more before a final showdown in either of those places would seem about right to me - at the Dragonspiral Tower would be logical, ideally with the seasons progressing between now and then so that it is Winter when they arrive. Erm... Axew/Iris have to get over their issues with Ice Pokemon/snow to be able to visit the important monument, *events occur*, Georgia shows up for a battle trying to get Iris in her weakest state, *resolution*.

Burgundy on the other hand seemed largely resolved after the Don Battle arc - at least in having the rivalry not be in anger, there's some respect between the two now. The best thing I can think of would be if they did a near repeat of her introduction episode at Shopping Mall Nine - and have her doing the evaluating legitimately and wanting to prove her training has paid off to Cilan. It'd help a lot if they started putting more emphasis on what Cilan needs to do for the S class ranking - then her return wouldn't come across as totally random when it does come around.

The Rival Destinies thing is probably meaningless in the scheme of things, we've seen nearly half of the episodes that will make up that dub season and there has been very little in any of the rivalries, except Bianca. And if it were hinting at something, I'd much prefer them doing more with Trip than anyone else. While it'd suck if they just dropped Burgundy/Georgia, they shouldn't be the primary focus while there's so little being done with Ash's rivalries.

As a whole the inconsistency of their appearances is a problem, if they'd kept up with these rivalries on a consistent basis we wouldn't be wondering what happened to two of the rivals. Even if they were mentions as an aside - say in the Deino episode just mention a red headed girl tried to challenge the Deino while they were in daycare; have Cilan reference the ranking system a bit more often, and pop Burgundy up on the screen when he mentions the C class, or have other characters talking to Cilan about how someone else who called themselves a connoisseur gave them advice, and having the examples slowly progress in their closeness to what his own answer would be to demonstrate her ongoing improvement. Especially with Cilan there are ways to keep the rivalry ticking along that would also help establish his own goals much better than they are being done.

I can see Langley challenging Shaga in or out of the Gym pretty soon; of course, he'll cream her Tsunbear to show that type advantages work inr everse in the anime he's still a force to be reckoned with.

Having Shaga would inevitably link her with Iris.

Cabernet will appear in the next episode and travel with them till the end!

It's been a while for both of them. Honestly, I'm almost wondering if they'll do an episode for the Ice Rock inside Twist Mountain. If so, maybe Langley will show up? Though, considering Trip is turning into a Cheren wannabe, he'll probably be the one at Twist Mountain. It'd be cool if Cabernet was at the Celestial tower, or somewhere along the route. (Hey, that means three rivals on one route!) As annoying as it might be to most, I hope we get another little moment of just travel, like we did between Castelia and Nimbasa (though frankly, not nearly that long....) It gives the writers time to bring back these characters and develop them more, or develop the Pokemon's personalities. Driftveil to Mistralton took no time at all despite there being a giant freaking route and a cave. But whatever, the point of this off topic-ness is: The more episodes they squeeze between gym battles, the more chance we have of seeing these characters.

tl;dr:
I want Cabernet to appear on Route 7 (Preferably inside the Celestial Tower) and I want Langley to appear in Twist Mountain.

Well its not like we haven't seen this before. Remember how Kenny and Nando completely disappeared for a large chunk of DP? Most didn't really care especially in Kenny's case, but these two are popular characters.

I think Cilan and Burungly will get an upcoming episode and Georgia will appear around the 8th Gym.

See, I disagree. Even though they are on good terms at the moment, I still think there is growth for their rivalry. They definitely need to battle at least once again. Especially since she still needs to work on her sommelier skills.

I'm hoping she'll show up sooner rather than later.

As for Langley, I agree with @Karamazov. I would like to see her battle an actual dragon master. Could lead to good character development.

They will appear will they appear. Iris doesn't battle so I'm sure Geogia won't show up as much. But Burgundy should have by now.

I think we're all forgetting a very likely possibility: what if they are both dead? What if Iris bothered her with one more 'kodomo ne,' one thing with Imperial Rage led to another, and Langley was killed? And who knows what Dent could have done to Cabernet?

Or Cabernet could be in Hachiku's town. There's the Pokemon Fan Club there, where she could always test the link between people and Pokemon.

Hopefully soon, because with Bel, these ladies are probably the best thing about rivals this generation. Which is debatable, because I'm not too sure if that is saying much. They unfortunately are inconsistent. Getting back to matters, however, I hope they appear soon, but definitely improved and back with the vengeance. It'd be pretty boring if all lose ends between Burgundy and Cilan as well as Iris and Langley were tied up. What should happen is what every decently balanced rivalry goes through: the main character suffers a defeat and aims to even the score.

Wouldn't it be great if Cilan had a crushing defeat against Burgundy? Causing him to lose and then find himself. Wouldn't it be awesome to see Georgia defeat Iris in a humiliating manner, only to have Iris come back and REALISTICALLY beat her? I think there's so much more room to grow. TBH, give me Georgia and Burgundy any day over Trip and Kenyan. They aren't dull, even if they lose often. Ursula and Harley brought this, and they still remain to be two of the most popular rivals this show has ever had.

I'd prefer Georgia at the Village of Dragons or Opelucid City. We need Drayden Vs. Georgia, Drayden Vs. Iris, then Ash vs. Iris, then let nature take it's course...

As for Burgundy, she can rot for all I care. I don't like Connoisseurs/Connaisseuses, as they are the show's cheaply written replacement for Coordinators. She and Cilan would be better rivals/better developed as characters if they were Pokémon Choreographers/Directors(for Musicals), competing for the most showy Pokémon, with an anime twist, by adding a 4-way battle round in time to the music!(I can see that being an Idea the blasted writers shelved)

I like Carbenet, but I can't help but feel that her rivalry with Cilan seem a bit lacking. As in, what are they trying to achieve with it? Do they want to show how a sommelier would grow from a low rank to a higher rank? If so, Carbernet's lack of screen time is a big detriment to that and the fact she gets completely overshadowed by Cilan every time she does appear does not help either.

I'm not sure what Cilan gets out of the rivalry, either. Sure, it shows him to be highly competent at what he does, but what else? I quite like the idea someone mentioned above about Cilan losing and having to rethink things a little. It'd result in development for both characters and not make the whole rivalry seem a bit pointless.

Langley is a similar case. Her rivalry with Iris seemed promising at first but it's a bit hard to see where they'll go from here. I think their next battle needs to involve Axew in some way and not Excadrill since, you know, she's a Dragon Buster, not a Steel or Ground Buster. Perhaps it could be a marker of how far Axew has come since the beginning. That is the reason why Iris is travelling around, after all.

As for when they will or should appear, we can't rule out the posibillity of the saga carrying on even after the Unova League, such is the pace the saga is going at at the moment. Perhaps they have plans for these two characters for that time.

I think its kinda odd they went to the trouble of giving Iris/Cilan rivals and then barely showing them. I am getting Kenny/Nando vibes, I hope they're not neglected.

I honestly don't see Burungly/Langely staying after the league either, even though Iris/Cilan will. I hope they get an appearance soon in the next gap.

But if they showed them all the time they would get worn out. Remember that Black and White are shorter than the previous DP seasons. This means they could not spend alot of episodes on the rival like in DP. There's no more contest arcs where the rivals have a chance to appear so what will they do everytme they meet up? Battle and say farewell until next time? IMO that's a little boring and I'm glad they are not streching their characters too thin with pointless appearances. I think theyshould appear enough to tell their story and keep things fresh.

I'm sure the writers can think of something for them to do during their appearances. They seem to be able to do it with Bianca, who appears regularly but has only battled Ash twice in all of those appearances, one of which was a double battle. They even manage to give Cilan things to do that actually have nothing to do with his profession. So there's no reason why they can't do the same with Carbetnet and Langley as well (and Iris too, while we're at it), who are interesting enough characters to appear and make an episode better.

I certainly hope they both reappear. Especially since they were both involved in the Don Tournament, and that was pretty much a gathering of all of the relevant rivals up until then. They both have the potential for future episodes for sure as they were both entertaining rivals for Dento and Iris, respectively.

It'll be interesting to see how both of them have progressed since then, too. Of the two, I would expect Cabernet to have changed more since we last saw her. Wouldn't be surprised if Langley turned up as we got closer to the 8th gym.
