... with the Japanese track? 4Kids dubs are absolutely terrible. I have no idea why the Pokemon community is so accepting of such a low-quality product. Maybe if we actually showed 4Kids that we have something called standards, we wouldn't be limited to the version with crappy music, inferior dialogue, butchered characterization, removed plot points, and whatever other manner of nonsense affects this complete and utter sham of an adaptation.

You ARE aware that 4Kids no longer dubs the show anymore, right?

Um, I don't think we are allowed to talk about the VA's. I got in trouble for that.

They don't? Awesome.

And this isn't about the voice actors, Ryuu. Just asking if the current company plans on releasing the Japanese track on future DVDs.

Yeah, but I never mentioned the voice actors there, just the music and dialogue. Besides, I do like the English voices. It's the only thing about the dub that's any good, though.

whatever. Thread is now irrelevant.

The original poster didn't bring up the voice actors at all.

Anyway, it's a bit late in the game to start *actually* hoping that we'll see some bilingual DVDs down the road. The sad truth is is that those of us who actually *do* care about the Japanese version are in the minority; the overwhelming majority of the fans, in the real world, couldn't care less about bilingual DVDs.

The current set of dub-only DVDs are selling just fine, anyway. Neither TPCI nor Viz has any real incentive to spend the time and money required to put the Japanese track on there.

I'm sorry. I misinterpreted what the guy said. Sue me.

Is there really any point in this thread staying open? Seeing as the original poster kind of got his questions answered...

Actually, I'd like to point out that compared to a lot of its other dubbed series, Pokemon was probably one of the better-done 4Kids ventures. They certainly seemed to put a lot more care and effort into it than anything else.

Just thought I'd put in my two cents there.

If you want a Japanese DVD you can just get it from Japan. I'm sure there's a way via the internet. Most people wouldn't even touch the Japanese versions, so they wouldn't use space for them.

Unfortunately, only a very small portion of the series is available on DVD in Japan. Not sure why they're so hesitant to release more. Surely a Kanto boxset would sell out almost instantly.

And then there's region encoding to get around, so even if they MADE Japanese DVDs and you could get them, you still wouldn't be able to WATCH them. And there's no way those would have English subtitles.

There's a lot of shows with no sub release. PUSA Pokemon doesn't have it either. Neither does Digimon unless you count the download-only versions and only then they're only season 2. Most Saturday Morning fare, I think.

Eh, I don't really see the point of this thread remaining open anymore.

It's 2009. I doubt anyone in this thread is going to say anything about 4Kids or the dub in general that hasn't already been said over and over again.
