Author's Note:
The following story takes place in somewhat of an alternate reality of the Pokemon universe. While Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, etc. still exist in this universe, this story takes place in a new region: Lacrima. As you can guess by the name, Lacrima is a region that is based more on Western culture than Eastern.

But that's not the main difference between the established Pokemon world and the one depicted in this fic. You see, in this world, evolution is a much more mystical event. Whenever a Pokemon evolves, humans quickly avert their eyes, as it is believed that the process is so beyond human comprehension that any who look directly at an evolution will go mad, or even die. Another effect of evolution: the area surrounding the Pokemon is infused with a burst of nature/life. Flowers bloom, the air becomes cleaner, etc.

So, those are basically the only differences. Enjoy. :)

Chapter One. Glory, Glory

She was an airplane. Her arms out-stretched, cutting through the cooling breeze, she studied the sky. Flying conditions were ideal. Not a cloud in the sky.

A flash of light to her left caught Glory's attention, but she didn't allow her eyes to shift away from the blurry outline of the quaint town of Concepcion. One... two... three... four... A deep rumble shook the very air around her and Tropius, who gave a frightened whimper from beneath her. She patted his leafy back in comfort, silently noting that the last pause between lightning and thunder had been six seconds; the storm was getting closer.

The airplane sped across the ground, her little legs working furiously. A joyous laugh escaped her young lips and was soon lost in the spring wind. The straps of her favorite pilot's cap flapped in her face, but she took no notice.

They were nearly there. A Pokemon Center was now clearly visible, its lit windows bringing thoughts of warm blankets and steaming soup to Glory's mind, and she physically ached with longing. The temperature had dropped considerably, and lightning and thunder had begun to occur only simultaneously. A lone raindrop struck Glory in the forehead, sending a shiver down her spine.

"Glory!" Without missing a beat, the airplane course-corrected and soared in the direction of her mother's call. She glided across the lawn, the aroma of onion soup greeting her. The airplane landed lightly on the front porch.

The heavens let loose on them just as they touched down in front of the Concepcion Pokemon Center. Glory slid off of Tropius' back, slipping her hand into the bag slung over back. She extracted a Pokeball and pointed it at her loyal companion. Tropius returned to its container in a flash of red light. Glory, with her hands creating a makeshift umbrella over her head, turned on the spot and ran through the downpour into the glow of the Center's fluorescent lights.

This was more of a small introduction than an actual chapter, so don't think this is going to be the format for the entire story. I'll try to put up a new chapter soon. Constructive criticism is much appreciated. :)
