First, I need this info about those being surveyed. Remember, since I'm not asking your name this is entirely anonymous. I only need these things for research on the population surveyed.

1) Does a handicap or oddity in appearance affect your first impression of somebody?

NO, but from a certain point of view yes.

No in that my first impression of someone won't be directly affected by such. But yes in that it might *balance out* certain negatives in the first impression. Say someone crash into me - if they're "normal", I'll have a bad first impression. If they're blind, on the other hand, I won't hold the crashing against them.

But the general answer would be NO

2) Do you avoid people who look different?

No.

3) Do you stare at people who are different?

No.

A, B, or C
4) I ___ people who are different. a) dislike b) accept c) judge

B.

5) If I saw a disabled or elderly person in need, I would probably ___.
a) immediately help them b) pretend I didn't see them c) help if no one else did

C, as much as I'd like to pretend it's A. Not to say I'll wait a long time, but knowing myself, I will definitely wait ten, twenty seconds to see if anyone else is willing to help. If not, I most certainly will.

So yeah, C.

6) Handicapped or different people ___ treated equally to "normal" people.
a) should be b) should not be c) are already

C, pretty much, keeping in mind that "Equally" and "identically" are NOT the same.

What exactly do you mean by different? Like handicapped different, or any kind of difference at all, like piercings or weird clothes or whatever?

I find it kinda hard to believe that all these people really would immediately help someone. I dunno when I'm in public I rarely see crowds of people rushing up to help the handicapped, yet pretty much everyone here says they would. Personally I would never help a stranger. I wouldn't pretend I didn't see them, either, though...I'd just not help. I don't see why I'd help someone I don't even know.

ChaosRocket, "any kind of difference at all" is what I'm aiming for.

Somehow I knew Mozz would want something like that.

1) Does a handicap or oddity in appearance affect your first impression of somebody?

Yes...I find it pretty ridiculous for anyone to say no...are you seriously telling me that if someone is dressed like a goth, your first impression of them isn't that they're probably a goth?

2) Do you avoid people who look different?

I avoid *everyone* in public regardless of whether they look different or not.

3) Do you stare at people who are different?

No, I couldn't care less what random people off the streets are doing or wearing or looking like, I ignore/avoid everyone.

A, B, or C
4) I ___ people who are different. a) dislike b) accept c) judge

It totally depends on what way in which they are different. I mean certain differences I like/accept, others I dislike.

5) If I saw a disabled or elderly person in need, I would probably ___.
a) immediately help them b) pretend I didn't see them c) help if no one else did

None of the above, I wouldn't help them but I wouldn't find it nessesary to pretend I didn't see them, it's not my job to help random people I don't even know.

6) Handicapped or different people ___ treated equally to "normal" people.
a) should be b) should not be c) are already

A should be

I wonder...does it qualify as equal if you'd help a handicapped person, but not someone else? Or would everyone in this thread immediately stop to help anyone who needed it?
