Yeah...So, I bought Pearl today, and I'm now in the third "main" city. Hearthome. I've come to a conclusion. Without spoiling anything for those that don't have the English version of the games, I'll just say this. Is it blatantly obvious that they're either pulling our tails or hinting at G/S remakes being made? Those of you that have the English copies know what I mean.

Now, I don't want G/S remakes at all, but from what I've been reading in the game, NoA is trying to tell us something with interesting little subtleties.

Unless I'm just reading too much into this. :)

It's going to be hard for people to reply if you don't tell us what specifically you're talking about. Many people aren't that far in the game yet.

Well.

In Hearthome Town/City/Whatever, when you get an Egg, they mention something along the lines of Prof. Elm recently discussed research on Pokemon Eggs or breeding or some such things. I'm clearly paraphrasing, but that's one thing that's fresh in my mind, since that part in the game just happened. There were a couple of other things that stuck out to me, but my mind's a bit wonk at the moment.

Anyways, what I'm getting at is maybe D/P take place at the same time as G/S, and the remakes are going to be not far off.

DP definitely takes place at the same time as GS... The opening with the red Gyarados sighting practically confirms it.

About the Red Gyrados thing, up until the Egg thing, I was under the impression that the Red Gyrados sighting was just a way to pay homage to G/S/C.

DP has so many GSC references, it's ridiculous. The PokéBall in the floor pattern for the centers are Gold and Silver. Not sure if that was intentional, but it sure was nice to see.

Hi, hi.
Do you want a Pokémon Egg?
They found this at the Day Care in
Solaceon Town...
Want to take it?
Here you go!
This is what I heard about Eggs.
If you take that Egg and travel\nwith energetic Pokémon, it’ll hatch.
I remember someone announced that.
Professor Elm of Johto maybe?

I started compiling a list of the references and allusions to G/S remakes a while ago.

I then gave up because the list seemed to never end.

Oddly enough, aside from a scant few mentions, this sort of blatant referencing wasn't seen in Ruby and Sapphire. It's like they're desperately trying to get people to even remember Generation II.

Um...am I the only one who didn't noticed GS references up the wazoo, besides Jasmine, Red Gyrados, and alot of GS New Evos...

But, I've yet to play the English so...

What's weird is Sinnoh isn't even that close to Johto. Isn't it northeast of Kanto?

Yes, but to be fair - Sinnoh is as close to Johto as Kanto is to Hoenn. There's two regions between them in both cases.

But, I've yet to play the English so...
When I clearly mentioned that I'm referencing the English version. Hm....-_-

Of course you wouldn't notice the text in the Japanese version if you can't really read too much Japanese. :\

Yeah. I find that odd, too. Especially since I thought that R/S were like the series "starting over", what with the colors being red and blue, eliminating all traces of the past games, and having Hoenn located a distance away from Johto and Kanto.

Now this. That kinda confuzzles me. As if FR/LG being thrown into the mix didn't already do that.

There was almost nothing in R/S to indicate that any of the previous regions existed except Lanette's email from Bill. It wasn't until FR/LG that we got more obvious referencing of Hoenn--ostensibly the Hoenn of R/S--but the references were still relatively subtle, which why some people still insist upon the fact that FR/LG takes place significantly before or after R/S. D/P on the other hand kicks right off with G/S referencing and even event concurrence, making its connection to G/S quite obvious, at least in temporal terms.

That's obviously down to GameFreak and their constant learning process of the entire thing. When R/S was released, they no doubt had a future game of some description planned for people to obtain the other 184 Pokemon not available, but probably had very little idea of what it should be.

It's been quite evident even through the announcements of the Pokemon, features etc in the run-up to D/P that everything has been planned out a lot more thoroughly this time around. G/S remakes were probably already confirmed at GameFreak before development on D/P even began.

Not just the Pokemon Centers. In battle, pressing on the pokeball
that appears in the lower screen as opposed to pressing A,
turns it yellow and white for a split second.
