Usually the Pokémon anime didn't pay much attention to episode numbers
But in DP the show started with 3 episodes arc and than ended the first 52 episodes with 3 episodes arc (the tag battles tournament)
The English dub even agreed to not stick to the "52 episodes -exactly- every season" only to make season 10 start and end with these episodes (which made S9 47 and S10 51)

Than the first 3 episodes in the next 52 episodes (which again became the first 3 of S11) were all about ownership changes (while Ash got Chimchar in 52, 53 dealt with this thing, than 54 Cacnea was given to Gardenia and 55 the Aipom/Buizel trade)
And we're getting close to the 3 final episodes of this second 52 batch (which may again become the last 3 for S11)

Do you think they'll do anything special again? if so what do you want or think might happen?
There's always the possibility of another tournament (I'd love to see a tag Contest tournament but I know it's not likely)
Or maybe since we're close to Hearthome the special thing will be the Hearthome Gym? or the Hearthome Contest? (or both, like end with Contest and begin the next 52 with the Gym?)
It'd be nice to see the Hearthome Contest get 3 episodes (it's special Contest like Wallace was special... so like Wallace it deserves 3 episodes)
I don't know how a Gym battle can last 3 episodes unless they show us Ash lose, train an episode and than win... or a rival battle (Nando? Paul? both?)

I think a Contest/Gym won't make it... the tag tournament really gave a feeling of somthing "special"
The Gym will be just another Gym and the Contest (even if special) is just another Contest
But that's the only thing I can think about unless they do another tournament

K-Zone, a children magazine, said that the Aaron episode will be the last episode of Battle Dimension !
Wait and see !

No it won't
It won't be the 52 episode of the season and it also won't be a 3 episode arc that would cause them to make it a few less than 52
That magazine while was right about most of things wasn't accurate (like "mikli cup" "kito" "lava badge" etc...) they said Aaron will appear on the way to Celestic but he actually appeared -after- Celestic and on way to Hearthome
It's also possible they meant Aaron will be in -one of- the final episodes rather than -the- final

Does it even matter? the Japanese anyway don't have seasons... but it seems like they decided to do something special for each beginning and end of 52 (DP 1-3, 50-52, 53-55 and now possibly 102-104 which I ask what you all think/want to happen)

Maybe... but I still hope we'll get something special again... the tag battle tournament was great!
I guess we'll find out soon since these will be the next episode titles to be revealed
But until than we can speculate what might happen...

I think the writers better speed through the rest of Sinnoh now.

We're 100 episodes in, AG only went on for another 91 eps after this. How much longer can D/P honestly go on for? I can't see D/P lasting more than 230 or so episodes.

The last thing I want to see happen is the leagues be all rushed again because they spent too much time in the beginning.

Well.. we're 100 episodes in, and closing in on the fifth gym. If generation 5 rolls around about 100 weeks from now, like it did last time, we're good.AG got rushed because the writers did the Battle Frontier arc, and eventually realised they had to squeze 5 frontier areas, 4 contests and a grand festival into 43 episodes, along with their planned captures and evolutions, bridging episodes, losses and rematches for realism... Such a pacing problem isn't going to occur in DP - it's obvious by now the writers aren't going to do a second "gym and contests" arc following the one they're currently doing.

What about the Elite 4? I've already figured we're not going to see the Sinnoh Battle Frontier in the anime, but I'll be upset if all the Elite 4 foreshadowing is for nothing.

Not to mention, its the only time we'll get to see Ash use his old Pokemon this saga. Ash's Kanto, Hoenn and a few Johto Pokemon deserve comebacks, and I can only see that happening in an Elite 4 arc.

My big fear now is that some of Ash's older Pokemon will never be used again, we've already seen that happen to his unpopular Johto Pokemon, but I better not see that happen to his Kanto and Hoenn Pokemon.

I believe they'll do something with the Shitennou, yeah, but it's hard to guess exactly what at the moment. They are most definitly not going to do a "travel the world and track down each member, while doing contests along the way" plotline. That's the problem with the Battle Frontier - it got treated like a new badge/contest quest, but there just wasn't enough time left before DP to do a full one. A Shitennou plotline shouldn't take more than 15 episodes or so if properly paced, with some fillers thrown in.

Actually, if the writers do the league before the Grand Festival, they can do a "Satoshi goes to challenge the Shitennou, and Hikari participates in the Festival in the middle of that" plotline, to avoid throwing her aside completely.

15 episodes is still 15 weeks, which is about 3-4 months unless they air 2 new eps a day.

Keep in mind the actual Sinnoh League will probably be around 10-12 episodes this time, in addition to the time spent on the Elite 4 matches.

I hate the fact that the writers are abandoning some of Ash's old Pokemon, I still can't believe Kingler and Muk weren't used in Battle Frontier either.

The way I see it, all of Ash's Kanto and Hoenn Pokemon should be used again, in addition to Heracross and Donphan.

The Johto starters and Noctowl are a lost cause at this point, so they can continue to be ignored.

I don't think we really need to worry about the anime's pacing now. We have absolutely nothing on a fifth generation game while in the Hoenn saga, they introduced Munchlax in the Destiny Deoxys movie.

We have until the twelth movie to really worry about pacing. They still have to reveal Arcues, and possibly a completely brand new nintendo handheld (not another version of the DS).

I'm willing to bet that the Sinnoh saga will be longer then Hoenn and possibly Jotho.

And all this have what to do with this thread?...
Give your ideas to something "special" they might do to end this 52 episodes
I can see something with Galactic or J (or both if they'll already begin to work together by than)

I think the magazine only wrote the Aaron thing as if it could possibly be the end. Why? I don't know, maybe they thought Ash facing an E4 meant that he was about to achieve his goal. We know that it is far from that. Anyway, Aaron shows up in DP099, and then we have a Turtwig line filler. They have space for another filler in 101 if they are planning something for 102-104. A whole mess of things have been happening lately like Dawn's third ribbon and TG. With Aaron also on the way, I really don't see any way they could top this. Maybe we will get something special, I dunno, the writers are on a roll and keep coming up with one crazy thing after the last.

If an Elite Four challenge arc is introduced in Diamond & Pearl, it'll probably be done how it is in the games. The E4 would receive word of Ash's challenge and agree to meet up in one specific location.

You'd have maybe 5-10 episodes of training/heading to the E4 and an episode or two for each Elite Four member.

To be honest I don't even expect that there will be a new generation until 2010 at the earliest, so the writers have nothing to worry about. I'm sure they have some idea of when the next games are going to be released and they plot out the series accordingly.

A thought:

What if Ash somehow manages to best Aaron in his debut? I sincerely doubt it'll actually happen but it'd certainly be interesting.

Why can't any thread stay on topic? The DP99-100 thread already turned into "how many episodes DP will be" / "how will they make the E4 and BF" so let's keep that discussion there (or open a thread for it instead... OMG open a thread to discuss the thread's topic?!)
