You know maybe it’s just a bit of a pet peeve I have after watching it, but the more I think about the HZ episode Mocchi Madness, I feel like the HZ’s Pokemon (Liko, Roy, Dot, and Ult) should’ve fought against Pecharunt or the other pokemon it’s controlling. Since you’d think they’d do something instead of seeing their human friends dance mindlessly and they just dance along with them or just stand there and do nothing until Diana tells Pecharunt to knock it off and it just transitions to their meeting room like nothing happened. It ends very anticlimactically as if they just wanted to move on with the plot with how Diana and it met and Liko getting the armor to evolve Charcadet.

I don't know why but this bugged me for this episode and I don't know why.

I agree, it's bad writing, it feels like they didn't have enough confidence in the story. Which is weird as two episodes next to it (HZ 120 and HZ 121) also had drama elements that were executed perfectly and turned out great.

Or they didn't have enough time to spread it out as they wanted to do the Mochi Madness like in the games, and have it be plot related with the armor and Diana cathing it to not lose momentum of the plot.

It's been bugging me too since the moment I watched it and had the same impression. It was a full setup for a Pokemon-centric episode, which was then cut at half-time. My theory is that it's two episodes recut into one (Mochi Madness with Pokemons having a big role and a fully fleshed out story of Diaan's and Hamber's adventure). Maybe due to airing slots concerns, maybe someone decided that two episodes where the main protagonists are sidelined would be too much, especially back to back.

I know i've spread the gospel that the anime seemed to have been written with a different game development timeline in mind already, but I think that really is what happened here. The writing team just rushed the episode based on the flawed development timeline they were given for Gen X and compressed the two episodes into one.
