New Game. Dunno what system, but rumours are it's another Secret Rings-esque game. But the pics are definately very good for a Wii if that's true.

So i nsummary: Sonic and the Secret Rings 2 looks to be PS3 exclusive, totally shunning the Wii who gave the franchise it's last decent and original game.

And the main feature of the game is Sonic turning into a werewolf. For reals.

Congrats on managing to screw up the last good things the series had going for it!

Yeah, I can't wait to play as hulking werewolf Sonic! Sonic in an adaptation of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde is what I always wanted. Because every videogame hero needs a violent alter-ego they can turn into because that's what all the little preteen boys want - blood and rape and rampaging violence that's cool.
 
Well, the first image of Sonic and his evil side made me think of Jack the Ripper, who I believe Hyde was based on. It's the London-esque street and the appearence of a cape.
 
Allow me to script out this forthcoming plot:

Super Sonic: I'm here to stop your latest evil generic plan!
Eggman: HAHA! I have you now Sonic! You fell into my trap! The evil Negatron 1000!
Super Sonic: Oh noes!
Eggman: HAHA! This machine will reverse the polarity of the Chaos Emeralds, causing your Super form to become NEGASONIC! THE SUPER AWESOME WOLVERINE WEREWOLF BADASS that will become unleashed whenever you become angry as indicated by the "BESTIAL RAGE" meter!!
Negasonic: Oh noes! KILL!
Eggman: You will be consumed by your evil form and eat all your little friends unless you recover the cure which I have seperated into seven parts and scattered across various locations.
Negasonic: KILL! KILL!

**7 Stages Later along with some cheap cameos by supporting cast members and maybe a fight with Knuckles or Shadow**

Sonic: Now I have mastered both sides of the Chaos Emeralds! Witness my true power! *splits into flying invincible Super Sonic and Nega Sonic at the same time.
Eggman:WTF!?! HAX! *dies*
Giant Kaiju #3: I was Negasonic all along! Just manipulating Eggman!
Eggman: Save me Sonic! YET AGAIN!
Super Sonic: Now I'll show you the power of a true heart!
Giant Kaiju #3:NOES! *dies*
 
It looks fake to me. Something about it doesn't seem genuine, and teh screenshots look like they were made in Photoshop.
 
I'm sure they were found on an official Sega site's directory or something...

Actual gameplay footage is out and it's literally Sonic and the Secret Rings + Sonic Rush, as they switch back and forth between both styles.

So I'll be pissed if this is a PS3 exclusive game if it's just a simple side-scroller the Wii could handle with a slight dip in resolution.

EDIT: Apparently it will be on all three systems but the screenshots obviously aren't from the Wii version.

Whoever buys the Wii version (if there will be a Wii version) is a moron.

That doesn't sound too bad...
 
Plot is out:

"Sonic the Hedgehog returns for a full-blown, action-packed adventure through the desolate and unpredictable World of Mubuz, a world dictated by an evil Dragon Lord, Immarius.
Upon entering Muboz, Sonic fights an evil power which turns all the inhabitance into dangerous beasts.

1. Become Wolf Sonic and fight enemies like never before using rapid combo manouvers and Ring Energy
2. Play as Sonic, Knuckles or Tails through 12 packed stages
3. Extensive gameplay brings 2D Sonic gameplay back to home consoles"

So basically Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles go on an adventure of the Dark World/Twilight Realm from Zelda to fight Gannon, er, Imarius or whatever.

Um, why is that? o.o Considering all Sonic games licensed by Nintendo have been pretty good, why would you want to avoid the Wii version? I also think people would want to stay away from the PS3 and 360 versions because of the awful tragedy of Sonic Next Gen.

As for my thoughts, it looks promising, but Sonic Next Gen did too when it was first unveiled at E3, and look how it turned out. Hopefully, this game won't be rushed like its predecessor was.

Aside from the Wolfhog, this is the most promising idea for a Sonic game I've seen since Adventure 2.
 
Apparently, the story and promo info was a load of crap. But some actual interesting news:

UPDATE:First, we apologize for our fault to post those fake news about the Sonic plot and the confirmation that it would be 2D, gameplay-wise. However, we go on with our own new facts: SEGA is launching SONIC UNLEASHED with a HUGE production budget and it seems not only SONIC TEAM is involved but a very huge part of SEGA’s developer teams including those from Japan, the US and, apparently for the first time, even Europe. There seems to be one clear mission: Rebuild the Sonic brand and prove it could work in 3D environments. We also have one new artwork for you.

So Sega is actually putting in all of their resources into it instead of just letting twelve guys do it and demand it finished in six months.

Yes, just the plot outline about the dragon god and Tails and Knuckles is fake. The video, pictures, and apparently the news that it will be on all 3 systems and be out in November are all real.
