Sought-after Items and Pokémon?

I'm fairly new to this generation of Pokémon, having last played a Pokémon game on the original Game Boy, so I sometimes find myself at a loss to identify what sort of items and Pokémon are most desirable for trading.

I know that legendaries (especially event legendaries), starters, shinies, and items like PP Ups, Heart Scales, Rare Candies, and (obviously) Master Balls are good trading material. But what about other items and Pokémon?

In your experience, what other items and Pokémon are particularly sought-after?

People will also be looking for good one-shot TMs, such as Stealth Rock and the likes, the 'pinch' berries, trade evolution items, the Power hold items, the Choice items, and egg move Pokemon.

Oh, and if you have a Bold Chansey/Blissey with Natural Cure and Seismic Toss, you can pretty much get anything.

Natural Gift, you mean? I see that Seismic Toss is a FR/LG Move Tutor attack, but I don't think there's a move called Natural Cure. (I'm not trying to be a smartass, keep in mind I just started playing Pokémon again a few weeks ago after a ten-year hiatus.)

Natural Cure is one of Chansey/Blissey's ability, which removes all status effect from her when switched out, making her able to take Thunder Waves or Will-o-Wisps for any competitive team.

Oh! Right, one of its two possible special abilities. Okay, I get it now.

In my experiences with trading items I find that most people either request the evolution stones or evolution items in general (particularly the items used to evolve Magmar and Electabuzz.).

Welcome back to the Pokemon world, by the way. xP

Thanks! On the one hand, I'm probably one of the most old-school players, since I started with the originals; on the other hand, I missed two generations in between, so I'm missing all the extra knowledge and experience that goes along with that.

...So kinda like a has-been! Yeah, sorta like that. ;-)

Yeah, I've noticed that people want Electrizers and Magmarizers, too. I'm fortunate enough to have LG, FR, Pearl, and Diamond, so at some point in the near future I'll be a veritable fountain of those items.

Also, Lucky Eggs are probably desirable. In fact, I'm hoping to get one myself at some point (5% chance to be a hold item on a wild Chansey, I believe).

And since Chansey are so hard to come by/catch to begin with *sighs*

And I neglected to mention that recently I've found more people requesting, as Ama noted earlier, TM's having just been asked to trade my Grass Knot TM several moments ago.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about Lucky Eggs, as well as Macho Braces. Guess people are too lazy to catch all three forms of Burmy.

It's hard to find female Combee in the wild. It only has a 1 ♀ : 7 ♂ ratio and only female Combee can evolve. In addition, Combee only have 2 moves available to it pre-evolution. Because of that, it's very sought-after in the GTS and in other trading communities.

I see that Seismic Toss is a FR/LG Move Tutor attack

Seismic Toss is also available in unlimited quantities in Emerald, but must beat the Elite 4 of Hoenn first.

Do what I did - save in front of a honey tree, then, if it's a Combee, reset until it's female.

Feebas are sought after, and Milotic even more so. Also Spiritomb. Any Pokemon that's rare/hard to get is desirable.

I think you just saved me a ton of time with that suggestion. Thanks!

I knew that the type of critter inside a honey tree is set when it starts shaking, so I just assumed the gender was, too.

Now, if only eggs are set when they hatch, instead of when you pick them up, it might not be taking me 100 hours to hatch a Modest Feebas female. (I did finally get a Modest male yesterday).

I've had lots of Feebas for a while, and I know how to evolve them, but I'm not even going to mess with them until I've bred some good Natures and IVs.

That's why I transfered them over. Also the new Power Braces seem rare.

Hubologist, just catch dittos with the Pokeradar eeast of Canalave town. You'll eventually catch a Modest Ditto, give it an ever Stone, and breed it with a male Feebas. It's so much easier than waitig for one to pop up.

Oh, that'll work, too? Cool. Yeah, it'll probably be easier to chain Dittos (I still need to learn to chain them) then wait for a Modest female Feebas to hatch. Although I do have a Bold female Feebas (two of them, actually), so that's something.

It's harder than you think. I've been searching for Bold/Modest Dittos for Togekiss, and it's taken me longer than getting my Bold Feebas.

Hmmm... perhaps, but if you catch a Ditto with a certain Nature, you can then use that Ditto to breed nearly any Pokémon, instead of only one type of Pokémon. So, either way, my efforts are probably better spent catching Dittos than hatching a single species of Pokémon looking for a specific Nature.

Once you have a Ditto with every Nature, I suspect one's breeding duties become much easier... although I'm not sure how that might affect IVs.
