I very recently purchased a new laptop, a Acer Aspire 5739g. It worked fine the first day, but the day after I noticed a strange sound coming from one of the speakers, some kind of static noise I think. I'm very sure it's the speakers, as it stops whenever I play a sound, and starts shortly afterwards, even when muted (although the sound is slightly lower then). I don't know if Win 7 have done something with the drivers (as I have installed quite a few updates), but it's getting very annoying. Anyone that has experienced this or know something that can help me with this? It's brand new, and I really don't want to send it to service, but the sound is so annoying I simply can't have it. Thanks in advance.

Did you install new hardware? Sometimes that can mess up the sound. Also, the hardware might be defective, call Acer as it is probably still in warranty.

My ex-roomie's desktop had this problem. Speaker crackling, right? Just randomly? It happened to be the sound card for her. The PC was still in warranty, so we had it replaced. Like the above commenter said, just get a hold of Acer and see what they can do. :) Definitely a manufacturer defect, which they cover.

As it is brand new (owned it for like, 5 days now), I haven't really tampered with the hardware. I think I have one year warranty, and even then, if it's hardware malfunction, I think I have five or three years customer's rights anyways. So I'll probably get it fixed. As long as they don't wipe my hard-drive clean, I'm happy. I have my old anyways.
