Owners of Pokémon Ranger Batonnage will be able to download a special Shaymin (Land Forme) mission via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service between July 19 and Aug. 31, the time that Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin will be in Japanese theaters. Ranger Batonnage has so far only been released in Japan.

It has been obvious since the moment of the game's announcement that if Shaymin were included in the game, it wouldn't be transferable to Diamond and Pearl so as not to interfere with the movie promotion. You can see that discussion at the bottom of this page.

As far as events are concerned, you should feel rickrolled for the fact that Darkrai's Wi-Fi distribution involved Ranger Batonnage instead of Diamond and Pearl, and that the movie Regigigas promotion is seemingly pertinent to the unlocking of a new location in Platinum. In both of these examples the Pokémon Company took their policy on making events cumbersome to the extreme.

Unveiling a secret legendary in a movie and tying its game distribution to a related event has been done since 2003 and is acceptable, but it is a different matter when the relevant Pokémon has been officially known for some time. The in-game events should be unlocked by wireless or Wi-Fi Mystery Gift as Game Freak intended. It wasn't this difficult with Latios, Latias, Deoxys, Lugia, Ho-oh and Mew in the previous generation, and it certainly wasn't so with Celebi in Japanese Crystal. Back then, Japanese players could receive access to the GS Ball event via the Mobile Adapter without even going to see the movie.

While your point may be valid, it isn't relevant to this thread because the topic is a Wi-Fi event for a game that is currently only available in Japan. Ranger Batonnage's special and extra missions will either be unlocked by similar Wi-Fi events for other countries, or will become straightforward in-game events in the translation process.

You should also realize that the situation regarding real-life events in Germany is not different than it is in the rest of Europe, and is in most cases better than anywhere else in the world with the obvious exception of Japan and the U.S.
