Marvel Animation Age has confirmed reports that The Spectacular Spider-Man will swing over to Disney XD in 2009.

The Toon Disney network, which is being rebranded Disney XD in February 2009 in an effort to capture the male market, will be the new home for The Spectacular Spider-Man in 2009. Reports leaked out earlier this week revealing where the critically-acclaimed series would be landing for a second season.

The Spectacular Spider-Man, which premiered March 2008 on the Saturday morning block Kids'WB on The CW, was slated to be moved to a new network in light of 4Kids Entertainment taking over Saturday morning programming for The CW. However, The series remains on the The CW 4Kids block for the time being, but will move to Disney XD to premiere new episodes next year. New episodes of The Spectacular Spider-Man will premiere on Disney XD beginning in March 2009. Repeats from the first season are also expected to be featured on the network.

A timeslot and date have not yet been announced for The Spectacular Spider-Man's premiere on Disney XD. The Spectacular Spider-Man is produced by Marvel and Culver Entertainment.

The Spectacular Spider-Man also currently airs on Teletoon in Canada, and is expected to start airing new episodes on said Canadian network beginning in early 2009. A specific date is expected to be announced shortly.

Because apparently every Marvel cartoon is going to be on digital cable (at least where I live).

I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!

Season Two of The Spectacular Spider-Man will be on Toon Disney. . . oh I'm sorry I meant Disney XD (I still think it's a stupid name change). Anyway, I heard rumors about this a few months ago, but I never thought this would happen.

I mean would the CW and 4Kids be stupid enough to let Spidey leave there Saturday Morning line-up (I guess so).

Not too mention, that Disney owns the rights to most (I think the only expectation is the 1960's Hanna-Barbera Fantastic Four cartoon) of the pre-2000 Marvel cartoons. Why would Marvel allow this when they can't come to an agreement to release un-cut, digital remastered, special edition, complete season DVD box sets of Spider-Man: The Animated Series, the 1990's X-Men cartoon, etc.

The Spectacular Spider-Man is a cartoon that has grown on me over time and I hope that now that it'll be on Disney XD that Disney doesn't screw up this show and they don't do any stupid censorship of the first season when they air it on their network.

Btw, Disney I'm expecting to see Spider-Man: The Animated Series Season One and my other old-time favorite Marvel Cartoons on DVD, un-cut, uncensored, and digital remastered soon (sorry but not having those DVDs gets me so upset with Marvel and Disney sometimes).

Well, it looks like I've got yet another reason to watch Toon Disney Disney XD.

Makes two of us. I'd love to get Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends on DVD sometime in my lifetime, but it doesn't look like it'll ever happen. :disgust:

Ugh, one of the only children's programs left which adults can watch without having their brains melt and I can't see it. This wouldn't be so bad if Marvel weren't so good about deleting every less-than-legal posting of their shows online. I'm looking at you, Wolverine and the X-Men.

And yes, DVD releases would be very nice.

This isn't too surprising, as if the arrogant 4Kids would ever allow for something to air on their block that isn't from them.

Also on, Wolverine and the X-men, marvel could be doing it because Canada got a head start, and they don't want to kill the US premier's ratings due to everything seen as a re-run.

Give it about...5 years...and I'm sure you'll be able to see it on Marvel's website, lke they've done with X-Men: Evolution. Just...hold out until then...

Wolverine and the X-Men is such a hit outside of the US that they've already ordered a second season.
