Personally, I can't decide between the two. What do you think?

This is creepy... :s

I think it depends on the deposited Pokémon.

Well, it depends on the gender the deposited pokemon. If you put in a male, ditto would have to turn into a female, etc.

ditto if the partner is male / the partner if it is female / the stork brings it if they're genderless

If the Pokemon that you are breeding Ditto with is a female then the female Pokemon makes the egg. If you breed a male Pokemon with a Ditto then the Ditto makes the egg. If you breed a genderless Pokemon with Ditto then Ditto makes the egg.

I think it's the other pokemon. ditto laying and egg is just....too weird. For me anyway. After all, Ditto has no sex so it's not really a he or a she but it can be both so......idk. :eek:hdear:

Well, it depends on the gender of the non-Ditto Pokemon. If its Male, then Ditto lays the egg. Female, it lays the egg. Thats what I think...

The female, whichever pokemon that may be.

If one is genderless, than I'd assume it's Ditto.

Ditto.

I'd imagine it wouldn't be actual mating.

Ditto may just take the other pokemon's DNA...

If the other pokemon is female, that pokemon will have it. If the other pokemon is male, ditto will have it

If the other Pokemon is male, it's the Ditto;
If the other Pokemon is female, it's the other Pokemon;
If the other Pokemon is genderless, the baby is adopted;
If the other Pokemon is a legendary, they both agree that the legendary is way out of Ditto's league and decide to date other Pokemon.

Hopefully that's cleared it up for everyone.

I think the Ditto would transform into the same or similar species as the other parent and use the proper reproductive system when concieving the child.

They both make it. Pokémon don't lay eggs, they craft them.

But on a serious note, what everyone else said. Female if there is a female, Ditto if there isn't a female.

Though, technically, the two Pokémon do make the egg together.

There is no egg-making, the egg pops into existence just like that. D|

On a serious note, I agree with Kyuujux. It makes sense that an egg is "made", in a sense, from the essence of two Pokemon. D:

Ditto may just take the other pokemon's DNA...
That makes the most sense.
I lean towards Ditto creating the egg unless the other Pokemon is outright female. There's less brain-breakage that way. (I'm currently trying to Masuda method myself a shiny Golett and I just can't imagine my Golemastoc being, well, you know... preggers. It hurts my poor little brain...)

As with animals, I expect that the egg is produced by whichever Pokémon taking the role of the female with the exception of cerain Pokémon such as Horsea, Seadra and Kingdra (Who are based on seahorses. In real life, the male seahorse is the one that carries the young, not the female) and other Pokémon based on animals where the male carries the young (if there are anymore; I'm not a biologist).

Anyways, as this covers a more wider topic in the Pokémon universe rather than game mechanics, this probably belongs in Pokémon World moreso than Video Games.
